Moravian softball made an emphatic statement when they held then-No. 20-ranked Lebanon Valley to two runs in each of its wins. The Greyhounds are going to make for a tough out the rest of the 2024 season.

The March 19 sweep of Lebanon Valley extended Moravian's ongoing winning streak to six games, and the Greyhounds now turn their attention to Landmark Conference competition. The league slate opens for Moravian on March 24 in a doubleheader against Wilkes, the first of three twin bills the Greyhounds play to close out March.

Four Moravian batters head into the Landmark-opening week already boasting a double-digit number of hits on the season, led by Holly Walter's 13. Walter also leads a Greyhounds offense that is perfect on the base paths with 19 steals in 19 attempts, her six swipes setting the pace. Shayla Morgan, one of seven Moravian players to appear in at least 10 games batting .316 or better, has stolen four bases.

Complementing the steady offensive firepower for Moravian is a consistent pitching rotation, led by Madi Cunningham with a 2.26 ERA, an opponent batting average of .210, and 14 strikeouts over 31 innings pitched.

Natalie Otto has also mowed down 14 and has an opponent batting average of .192 over her 13 1/3 innings pitched.

Wilkes comes in looking to solve Moravian's strong all-around game with a solid combination of pop at the plate and craftiness in the circle. Wilkes' top five hitters all sport averages of .300 or better heading into a weekend-opening doubleheader against Lancaster Bible College.

Misericordia, meanwhile, won 11-of-12 before dropping a pair to York College. The MAC Freedom member heads to Moravian on March 26 looking to make a statement against the No. 16-ranked Greyhounds.

Misericordia boasts one of the most dangerous small-ball players in the Div. III game. She is one of the players to watch in the coming days of action on FloSoftball.

Players To Watch

Marcie Silberman, Moravian C/1B

Among Moravian's leading batters thus far in 2024, Marcie Silberman has produced the most power. She has five home runs and 15 RBI—both team-highs—on a .316 average. Her slugging percentage of .842 is also the most among Greyhounds to have appeared regularly in the lineup.

Mia Butka, Wilkes P

In four appearances heading into March 22, Wilkes pitcher Mia Butka has outings of five and nine strikeouts—and her 16 for the campaign are double the next-most prolific members of the staff.

Along with Lauren DeMarco, who has a 0.54 ERA in 13 innings, and Sami Hendershott, who has yet to surrender an earned run through two appearances and a complete game, Butka gives Wilkes a tough top-to-bottom pitching rotation.

Bridget Doherty, Misericordia OF

Tops among a remarkable four Misericordia batters with averages of .404 or better in at least nine games played is Bridget Doherty. Her .420 batting average and 11 walks drawn have the outfielder getting on base at a .525 clip.

Once on base, Doherty is especially dangerous. She's a perfect 13-for-13 on stolen-base attempts in 16 games.
