Dana Housley passed away Wednesday night.
Dana Housley passed away Wednesday night.

We are very sad to report tonight that Dana Housley, the 15-year-old softball player from Etiwanda, Calif. who collapsed last Saturday while playing for the Cal Thunder, has died tonight.

Here parents, Larry and Julieta, released this statement around 8:45 pm PST:

“Tonight our beautiful Dana chose to go with the Lord. We don’t yet understand his plan for her, but she will make a perfect angel.”

“The tremendous national and international outpouring of love and support for our daughter and our family during this devastating ordeal is appreciated beyond words.”

“Although the journey ahead for our family will be unimaginably painful, we now understand we have a family of thousands in the softball community to help us through. We will feel pain and emptiness at the loss of our baby girl, but we won’t have to feel it alone.”

“As we begin the healing process, we thank you all. We will not forget your love, prayers, and support, nor will we ever forget the wonderful memories of our little girl, Dana Housley #21.”

Here’s more of Dana’s passing done by the Los Angeles ABC affiliate

As of the time we post this, over 1,300 people have donated close to $57,000 to the GoFundeMe.com account.

If there’s one positive to this, it’s that it brought the softball community together in a way so that we will never forget Dana and, hopefully, more attention will be given to the medical condition that took her away too soon.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, teammates and coaches…
