No. Player Position Club College
20 Mary Katherine Tedder
#20 - Mary Katherine Tedder
SS Birmingham Thunderbolts Texas
Mary Katherine is one of the top middle infielders in the nation as she's a five-tool player who can beat you with her bat, glove, arm and speed. There isn't much MK can't do on the softball field and she comes up clutch in the biggest moments: for example, at PGF Nationals she hit two home runs in one game to help her team advance and finish 7th overall. Mary Katherine also led her Alabama high school team to a 5th place finish and collected 74 hits with 24 of them being doubles. She also knocked in 44 RBI. The sophomore is also a three-year letter winner in cross county and qualified for state as a 7th grader. She committed to Texas in the fall of her freshman year.
19 Alexis Allan
#19 - Alexis Allan
1B Firecrackers - Rico Michigan
Alexis, who goes by the nickname "Lou," has great softball DNA as her grandmother is Sheila Cornell-Douty, who played on the first U.S. Olympic softball team in 1996, won two Olympic Gold medals overall and is in the National Softball Hall of Fame. Lou is a difference-making player, able to go deep at any at-bat and few can swing a bat better than her. Lou hits to all fields and can take and drive a pitch to where it's supposed to be hit. She was a Riverside (Calif.) All-Area player after hitting .471 with 11 home runs including a two-run blast that helped her team win the league title. Lou also plays basketball on the varsity team.
18 Lauren Rice
#18 - Lauren Rice
P/1B Beverly Bandits Missouri
Lauren is a flame-thrower and has hit 70 mph on the gun numerous times; one of those was last December with the Mizzou coaches watching and it wasn't long before she got a scholarship offer. At 5-foot-4, she doesn't pass the eyeball test like many fireballers, but the stocky, muscular pitcher gets the job done. Once she masters off-speed pitches she will be unhittable because of the natural movement on her fastball. She also hits well and is well liked by coaches and teammates. Not surprisingly she had several multi-strikeout games this year and racked up some no-hitters to earn Class 2A All-State honors.
17 Alyssa Kumiyama
#17 - Alyssa Kumiyama
C/1B So Cal Athletics - Richardson South Carolina
Many coaches feel Alyssa is the most well-rounded catcher in the class, which is saying something as it's a great crop of backstops. She can hit the ball 300 feet and is excellent offensively and defensively. Alyssa is agile and athletic for her size and adds power to the package to make her a college All-American type player. She can also play first base and catch. She hit .543 with 36 RBI and 11 homers for her Cerritos, Calif. high school team and had an on-base percentage of .652 and a slugging percentage of 1.114. At the club level Alyssa has won championships at the ASA (2010, 10U) and PGF (2012, 12U) levels when she was with the Firecrackers organization and has made the jump from 14U to 18U with the powerhouse A's. For the runner-up A's-Quarles team at PGF 14U Nationals this summer she hit a team-leading .478.
16 Mia Davidson
#16 - Mia Davidson
C Carolina Elite Mississippi State
Mia is a basher on offense and can drive the ball deep from the right field line to the left; however, she is not only a power hitter, she can hit for average too. She smacked 24 home runs over the summer for the Carolina Elite Gold team and last spring had video game-like numbers in high school: a .522 average, 25 RBI, 12 home runs and 21 walks in only 17 games to give her a .681 on-base percentage, a 1.565 slugging percentage and a 2.246 OPS. On defense she can catch, play third and first because she has great hands and can pick anything. Off the field she has a strong work ethic and is always asking what she can do to improve.
15 Kelsey Oh
#15 - Kelsey Oh
P Jersey Intensity Boston College
Kelsey has seemingly come out of nowhere the last six months to become one of the elite pitchers in the nation. She played and dominated some of the top club teams in the country over the summer and almost instantly top national programs were after her. Kelsey throws in the mid 60's with good breaks on her rise and curve, but her mental toughness and composure may be her best attributes. When the game gets tight, she remains in control and knows how to pitch out of tough situations. A good example was the Non-Public A state championship game in New Jersey where she went 13 innings and scattered six hits while striking out 10 to get the win.
14 Alyssa Martinez
#14 - Alyssa Martinez
SS Explosion - Greg Ole Miss
Nicknamed "A-Mar," Alyssa is one of the smoothest shortstops in the country and makes jaw-dropping plays that other players can't. She's versatile and can take her defensive skills anywhere on the field to help a team. At the plate she hits for a high average and power, batting close to .450 this fall for the Explosion with a .747 slugging percentage. Alyssa is also an RBI machine as shown by her .587 average with runners in scoring position. Some scouts feel she's the best shortstop in the 16U division and, not surprisingly, she had offers from programs in every major conference before she committed to Ole Miss.
13 Malia Quarles
#13 - Malia Quarles
3B So Cal Athletics - Richardson UCLA
Malia is a home run threat every time she comes to the plate and knows how to lay off pitches she doesn't want to explode on the ball when she gets her pitch to hit. She knows how to work the count and is clutch when it counts: she hit four home runs at PGF 14U Nationals including a grand slam in the semi's and led her team with 11 RBI in eight games. Malia was a MaxPreps All-American on the same high school team as Alyssa Kumiyama and, like her teammate, hit 11 home runs. She also compiled a .464 batting average, 36 RBI and 22 extra base hits. Interestingly, Malia played for her father, Shawn, on the So Cal A's-Quarles 14U team and he and UCLA head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez were friends at Gahr High School, the same one Malia attends now.
12 Hannah Adams
#12 - Hannah Adams
SS Georgia Impact - Jeffreys Florida
Hannah has unbelievable hands and a quick release on defense and one scout confided many D1 coaches are hanging their heads that they did not get her. Hannah has a very high softball IQ and several said they think she's the best fielding shortstop in the country. She makes plays that leave observers in awe and on offense hits well to all fields. The Georgia sophomore also has the smarts and athletic ability to run the bases well. She is good in the dugout with her teammates and leads by example. As a freshman Hannah was a Georgia Class AAAAAA 2nd Team All-State honoree. She led the Impact - Jeffreys team to a tie for 13th at PGF 14U Nationals where hit a team-leading .368.
11 Jordan Matthews
#11 - Jordan Matthews
SS Ohana Tigers Florida
Jordan has off-the-charts athleticism and she's already like a college shortstop in her physical size and strength. A great all-around athlete, she also plays varsity volleyball for her Southern California school. Jordan has a crazy upside in her combination of power and her ability to run and she can do things physically that others can't. Jordan has the tools in place now like a college player and defensively she has great range and the ability to get the ball, but also the skills to excel at third base. Once she matures in experience and masters the mental part of the game, Jordan has the potential to be one of the best players in the sport. A lefty hitter, she batted .414 with five homers and 22 RBI last spring to earn All-Century league honors in 2014.
