No. Player Position Club College
10 Nicole Bates

SS Firecrackers - Rico Washington
Nicole is an outstanding athlete who plays varsity basketball and softball and has earned team MVP honors in both sports. On the hoop court, she's averaged 15 points per game each of the last two years; in softball she was the MVP of the Western Athletic Conference and 1st Team All-District after hitting .483 with an on-base percentage of .530. Nicole is a lefty slapper who has a professional approach to the game and is college-ready right now. The So Cal standout is versatile and smooth on defense. She also comes from an athletic family: Nicole and her brother, Jimmy--a three-sport athlete--were recognized by their high school as Athletes of the Year.
9 Kaylie Harding
C/UT Georgia Impact - Bass uncommitted
Kaylie is the fastest-rising player in the nation and is making waves in the recruiting world. She comes from a small town in middle Georgia and goes to Georgia Military College so she hasn't had the exposure until now. She has all the tools on both sides: as a catcher she blocks the ball exceptionally well, has a strong arm and understands the game. Kaylie has a quick bat and hits for power too. She was 1st Team All-State as a sophomore and through the first part of this fall season was hitting .433 and leading the team with 21 RBI from the lead-off position. The Peach State standout has a 3.5 GPA and is also an excellent basketball player, leading her varsity team in rebounds and receiving All-Area honorable mention. Her twin sister, Karlie, also excels in softball and basketball.
8 Mackenzie Boesel

SS So Cal Athletics - Richardson South Carolina
Mackenzie will be a player you will hear more and more about over the next few years and into college as she's a great lefty hitter who has power and can do it all on offense. She's also one of the hardest working players in the game and will never be outworked by anyone. As a sophomore she started every game at shortstop despite having a broken finger for a month and still led the team in homers (6), triples (4), RBI (27), slugging percentage (.744), runs (28) and walks (19). The year before she was the Orange County Freshman of the Year after batting .427. This summer for the A's she hit over .400 and was also one of the team leaders in homers and RBI. Mackenzie is the type of hitter who falls out of bed hitting .400 and makes it look effortless.
7 Dejah Mulipola

C OC Batbusters - Haning/Stith Arizona
The word coaches use for Dejah is "quiet" as that's her personality off the field, but watch her play and you'll see she's a fiery competitor underneath the calm exterior. Dejah really accelerated her growth this last year catching 1st Team All-American Kaylee Carlson at Pacifica High (Garden Grove, Calif.) and she has now emerged as an elite two-way catcher. She hit .313 with 31 RBI and eight doubles as a sophomore on the 5th ranked team in the nation and expect those numbers to really improve as she's shown over the summer an improved, smooth swing and that she can hit the ball wherever it's pitched. A blue-collar catcher, she is also a good outfielder and her best softball is ahead of her. No one's ceiling is higher than Dejah's and club and college coaches rave about her potential.
6 Shannon Rhodes

3B/SS Texas Glory Oregon
Shannon was a 1st Team Full Count Softball High School All-American this past year when she batted .462 with 60 hits, 53 runs, 33 RBI and went 28-for-29 in steals. A 1st Team Dallas-Ft. Worth All-Metroplex honoree as well, Shannon is extremely versatile and can handle all the infield positions. She's a leader on the field and her drive to be great helps her hold herself accountable for her preparation and performance. By her example, teammates see her dedication and effort and follow her leadership. Shannon has great bat control with surprising power. She was recruited by every major conference because of her physical tools and her 3.8 GPA, which has helped her earn All-Academic honors two years in a row.
5 Hannah Edwards
OF Newtown Rock - Garvey Pitt
Hannah is a five-tool player who is extremely fast with 2.6-2.65 home-to-first speed, which she uses to perfection in the short game (bunt/chop/soft slap) as well as to power slap and swing away. She's great at keeping the defense guessing and taking whatever the opposition presents. Hannah is also excellent defensively and covers a lot of ground. The Pennsylvania standout has a two-year high school batting average of .619, hit .521 this summer at the club level and hit .538 at PGF Nationals this year. A MaxPreps Underclass All-American as a freshman and a two-time All-State pick, she's also ranked No. 1 academically in her class of 113 with a 101 GPA. Hannah is a great all-around athlete who has earned All-Area honors in field hockey too.
4 Kristina Inouye

2B/OF Firecrackers - Rico Cal
Kristina has great athletic bloodlines as her mother was a Wimbleton Junior Tennis champion and the daughter is equally skilled in her sport. The So Cal athlete is methodical and efficient in her approach to the game and consistently gets great at-bats against top pitching. At this year's PGF Nationals she hit .444 and helped the Firecrackers finish in the top 10. Kristina has great feet on defense and is smart on and off the field with a 4.80 GPA. She was a CalHi Sports 2nd Team All-State Underclass pick after she finished 2nd in hitting in the very competitive CIF Southern Section-Div. I with a .527 average. Kristina also helped her team capture its first league championship in 17 years. As good as she is now, her best softball is ahead of her.
3 Bailey Hemphill
C Louisiana Voodoo Alabama
Bailey was a 1st Team Full Count Softball High School All-American after tearing up Louisiana softball for the second straight year. She hit .630 with 17 home runs, 14 doubles and 56 RBI to earn 1st Team All-State honors and led her team to a 25-5 record and Class 4A state championship. A 4.0 student in the classroom, Bailey has great hitting mechanics and is the master of the "see ball, hit ball" approach. She can drive the ball to all fields and, behind the plate, has an excellent arm and excels in blocking pitches and picking off runners. Bailey is a once-a-decade type player who makes her teammates better around her and has the tools to be as dominating in college as she is in high school.
2 Miranda Elish

P Beverly Bandits Oregon
Miranda was a 1st Team Full Count Softball High School All-American as a sophomore and also was honored as the Indiana Gatorade State Softball Player of the Year after being nearly perfect in the circle in 2014 with a 29-1 record and 0.31 ERA. She's also a standout hitter and compiled a .480 average at the prep level. Last summer, she was the driving force for the Bandits' 16U team that won the PGF National Championship. Miranda, who has a 3.64 GPA, is a tough competitor who wants the ball all the time and, the bigger the moment, the more calm and cool she is under pressure and the better she plays. She's a power pitcher with good down movement and has great success in moving the ball inside and outside to keep the batters off-balance. Many feel her competitiveness is her strongest asset. Miranda also has a great bat with power from the left side and deceptive speed to beat out a bunt.
1 Mariah Lopez

P OC Batbusters - Haning/Stith Oklahoma
Mariah is a power pitcher who's not timid in putting the ball where it needs to be placed. She has a strong, intimidating presence on the mound, comes in to batters to keep them honest and can change speeds on all her pitches. Three years ago she just had a hard fastball outside to take down hitters, now she has a huge arsenal of weapons at her disposal: she throws in the mid 60's, has a great off-speed pitch, changes planes with a lot of velocity and has a screwball that will buckle your knees. Mariah had a hip injury at the start of last spring's high school season but once she got going she was dominating. Her record was 15-2 with a 0.59 ERA and 170 K's in 94.2 innings. The So Cal star averaged 12 strikeouts per game and limited opponents to a .115 batting average. She won a boatload of honors as well including CalHiSports All-State Underclass, 1st Team All-Area, All CIF Div. I and the Foothill League Pitcher of the Year. In 2013, she led Team Mizuno-Campbell to the PGF 14U National Championship and this year won a second title even though Gatorade National Player of the Year Taylor McQuillin took the ball and pitched the complete game victory. Mariah pitched a great win in the semis over the four-time defending So Cal A's and accepted her role as the complementary pitcher to McQuillin knowing her time will come. And in large part because of her maturity and great team-first attitude, plus her obvious physical and pitching skills, that's why Mariah--who's still an eager student developing her craft--is worthy to be honored as the No. 1 player in the Class of 2016.
