Hustle City Bracket Recap

St. Louis Chaos - Eagan vs St. Louis Chaos - Weakly

In this matchup we saw St. Louis Chaos (Eagan) go against St. Louis Chaos (Weakly). This was a classic pitching and defensive kind of a game as (Eagan) pitcher Sarah Abbott squared off against counter part (Weakly) pitcher Annah Junge.

In the 1st inning the Weakly squad was able to strike first with Samantha Miener (22) bringing in a run on an RBI single making the score 1-0 Weakly. From the 2nd to the 5th innings of play, the two starting pitchers made key throws and let their defense make plays behind them.

In the bottom of the 5th with two outs, Eagan 2nd basemen Brooklyn Moore got a huge RBI double to put her team on the board to make it 1-1 ballgame.

In the bottom of the 6th with a tie game, Marissa Peek came up clutch when she smoked the ball deep to left field to win the game with a walkoff inside the park homerun to give her team a 2-1 victory.

St. Louis Chaos - Beatty vs Missouri Fury

Things got off to a very shaky start for the Fury in this contest. In the bottom of the 1st, Makayla Hurst  (4) got a two run double making it a 2-0 game. But the Chaos weren’t done, Emma Nichols got a hit for an RBI single to extend the Chaos lead to 3-0. That was all she wrote for Fury pitcher and Jeff City commit Taylor Nordwald (1 IP, 5 hits, 3 ER). Taylor was replaced by Mckendree commit Hannah Murphy.

The Fury tried to answer in the top of the 2nd inning with a lead off double by Lindenwood commit Austine Pauley. But Chaos pitcher Meghan Schorman was on her game early on, as she was able to get out of the inning without allowing a run.

The Fury kept getting lead off hits but were unable to capitalize on that momentum through out the game.

In the bottom of the 4th, the Chaos struck again, this time playing small ball. With a runner on third base, Meghan Schorman (14) helped her on cause with a safety squeeze and bringing in a run to make it a 4-0 game. That would be all that the Chaos needed as Schorman had a really good performance today and the offensive fast start.

Final score 4-0 Chaos.

Full Swing Connection - Heinlein vs Tulsa Elite - Pelegrino

This afternoon game got started with the Elite batting first. They had a good start as the first two batters got on base. Connection pitcher Lauren Howell (2) was able to settle in, getting a fly ball out and striking out two batters to end the inning.

In the bottom of the 1st, the Connection were able to put runs on the board. Lauren Howell (2) helped her own case by driving in two with two outs, to put her team up 2-0.

In the top of the 2nd, Howell struckout 3 of the 4 batters she faced. In the bottom of the 2nd the Connection would strike again. Braylee Adams (13) would get an RBI single, extending their lead 3-0.

The Elite would battle back in the top of the 3rd when they started a two out rally. M'kayla Hillman would get a 2 RBI double cutting the lead to 1.

To the bottom of the 4th, the Connection would blow this game wide open on a Elite defense mistake. With only 1 out and runners on first and second, a ground ball would get hit by Howell causing her to be out at first base. The Elite players started walking off the field, so the runners now at second and third ran to home plate making it a 5-2 game. Two more runs would score and that was the end of it.

Great performance by Howell as she got 4 RBI and 7 K's on the day.
