At the espnW Women + Sports Summit in Dana Point, Calif. Monica Abbott admits to Julie Foudy that, "If I can still sling the rock pretty well, I would like to play," Abbott said about playing at the Tokyo Olympics. "I was the youngest player in 2008, and I would probably be the oldest in 2020...It would be my honor."

Many people would be surprised that Abbott was skeptical about the $1 million contract. That skepticism led to a conversation surrounding how women view their own worth.


Julie Foudy comments, "How interesting that the reaction is…Is this real? It's not like yes this is how it should be.  You're surprised by it, which is sad in itself."

Abbott responds, "Yea I think it is sad. I think it's something women inherently do. We downplay ourselves. We don't necessarily think we're worthy. Maybe I don't deserve that."
