With over 14,500 votes, the results are in from our Team USA poll, which asked softball fans who should represent Team USA in the 2020 Olympics.

USA Pitchers

America loves the lefties. In the pitcher category, your top six pitchers are:
  1. Keilani Ricketts
  2. Monica Abbott
  3. Paige Lowary
  4. Paige Parker
  5. Megan Betsa
  6. Jaclyn Traina
null

You won't see Ricketts, Abbott or Betsa at the January tryout. Sources tell me Abbott may resurface after the 2017 season. Ricketts wasn't invited. Betsa spent a great deal of time recovering and rehabbing this fall. I'm sure she wants to finish her season at 100%. We may see her after she finishes up the 2017 season.

Megan Good, Randi Rupp, Kalen McGill, and Kylee Hanson received the lowest amount of votes. Three of the four players recently added to the invite list received less than 1% of the vote.

USA Catchers

Your top three USA catchers are:
  1. Aubree Munro
  2. Paige Halstead
  3. Amanda Chidester
null

Annie Aldrete and Griffin Joiner received the two lowest amount of votes with less than 4% of the vote.

USA Infielders

We see many standouts in the top 10. But out of the top 10 infielders, four were not listed on the invitee list. Here are the top 10 voted infielders:
  1. Sierra Romero
  2. Sydney Romero
  3. Lauren Chamberlain
  4. Delaney Spaulding
  5. Kelsey Stewart
  6. Kasey Cooper
  7. Bianka Bell
  8. Madison Shipman
  9. Shelby Pendley
  10. Shay Knighten
null

Sierra Romero, four-time All-American and 2016 USA/ASA Player of the Year was not on the invite list. Lauren Chamberlain is in the history books with the most career home runs was not on the list.

Shelby Pendley and Shay Knighten were National Champions playing pivotal roles in Oklahoma's success. They're both really, really, really good, and they aren't on the list.

With less than 1% of the vote, DJ Sanders and Lindsay Rood received the lowest amount of votes.

USA Outfielders

America loves the lefties. The top five outfielders voted in are left handed hitters. The top three outfielders combine for great power and speed. Kretschman led the NPF in hitting and is the only player to play in the last softball Olympics. Here are the top five voted outfielders:
  1. Allexis Bennett
  2. Haylie McCleney
  3. Amanda Lorenz
  4. Kelly Kretschman
  5. Megan Wiggins
null

Wiggins has never been invited to a USA tryout. She has been playing in Japan for the last four years. Her teammate is Yukiko Ueno. Their coach was just appointed as head coach for the Japan National Team. She could be valuable intel for the USA team; however, she was not on the list.

A few of the USA invitees received less than 1% of the vote. Juli Weber, Astin Donovan, Morgan Zerkle received the lowest amount of votes out of 19 outfielders listed on the poll.
