Michigan Extends Coach Carol Hutchins Contract Through To 2022

Michigan head softball coach Carol Hutchins has agreed to extend her coaching career in Ann Arbor. She will coach through the 2022 season. Hutch enters her 34th season as a Wolverine coach, having compiled 1,527 wins -- making her the winningest coach in NCAA softball history.

Hutch has also accumulated the most wins in Michigan school history winning 19 Big Ten titles and one Women's College World Series title. In 34 seasons, the Wolverines have made 25 NCAA tournament appearances with 12 trips to the Women's College World Series under the guidance of coach Hutchins.

"We are delighted to announce that Hutch will finish her career here at Michigan," Michigan senior associate athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement to Detroit Free Press. "She is a legend in softball coaching and a legend in Michigan's illustrious history. More importantly, she is a phenomenal person and leader of our student-athletes. I look forward to her leading our softball program for many, many years to come."
