Powder Springs, Georgia -- Day two of the Atlanta Legacy Showcase was comprised of manufactured runs, clutch hitting, along with excellent pitching from the circle.

Atlanta Vipers Jiles vs St. Louis Chaos '01

The Atlanta Vipers Jiles (14U Girls) used a five-run top of the first inning to jump out on the St. Louis Chaos '01 -- Weakly (14U Girls) early, as the Vipers' defense did the rest en route to a 10-3 victory.

Harrison High School's Ansley Yantis legged out a one-out, infield single with a dribbler down the third base line for the Vipers' first hit of the game. On the ensuing at-bat, Mount Paran Christian School's Sydney Chambley notched an RBI double and advanced to third on the throw, giving Atlanta a 1-0 lead. Nicolle Nysted of Allatoona High School doubled to shallow right field to score Chambley, extending the Vipers' lead to 2-0.

Nysted stole third base on a wild pitch and scored on an RBI triple from Oconee County High School's Hannah Patridge. Gracie Mixson of Cherokee High School hit a two-out, bloop RBI single to shallow left-center field to score Patridge from third base. Mixson came around to score later the inning as Melanie Bennett, from Allatoona High School, singled back up the middle and the Vipers held a commanding 5-0 lead over the St. Louis Chaos after the opening frame.

Sonoraville High School's Kristen Davis got the start in the circle for the Vipers. Davis struck out the first batter she faced, but gave up a one-out single to Nora Adams, from Kennedy High School. Adams advanced to second base on a fielder's choice and scored on a two-out RBI single from Elsberry High School's Tess Weakly, cutting the Chaos' deficit to 5-1.

The defensive woes continued for St. Louis in the second inning as the Vipers opened with three consecutive singles -- from Carlie Henderson of Calhoun High School, Yantis, and Chambley, respectively -- to extend their lead to 6-1. Nysted blasted a one-out, two-run shot over the centerfield fence to put Atlanta up 8-1.

The Chaos were able to rattle Davis in the circle in the bottom of the second inning as two walks and an infield single loaded the bases with no outs. Atlanta's defense helped Davis escape the jam, however, as they turned as Patridge snagged a line drive to second base and stepped assisted on a double play at the base. Following a walk to load the bases once more with two outs, Henderson made a diving catch in right field to end the inning and strand the bases loaded for St. Louis.

The Vipers added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning behind and RBI single from Kristen Davis and a sacrifice fly from Mary Cahalan.

Gainesville Gold vs Texas Sudden Impact

In stark contrast to the matchup between the Vipers and Chaos, the Gainesville Gold -- McFayden (14U Girls) secured a 2-0-shutout victory over the Texas Sudden Impact in the second game on Friday.
Right-hander Ashley Vallejo got the start for the Sudden Impact, squaring off against University of Alabama commit Alexis Kilfoyl, who got the start in the circle for the Gold.

Kilfoyl (Class of 2019) went 11-5 with a 1.36 ERA as a freshman for Land O'Lakes Academy varsity team last season.

Vallejo struck out two, walked one, and forced a pop out in the top of the first inning. Kilfoyl faced the minimum in the bottom of the frame, striking out the first two batters she faced and forcing a groundout from the third.

Gainesville's Alanah Rivera notched a two-out RBI single to left field to give the Gold a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning. Kilfoyl pitched another shutdown inning in the bottom of the frame, forcing two groundouts and giving up a single to Texas' Katie Cimusz before ending the inning on a strikeout.

Both Vallejo and Kilfoyl pitched one-two-three innings in the third. Vallejo faced the minimum once again in the top of the fourth inning, forcing a groundout and a pair of fly outs. Gainesville's Rylin Hedgecock of Lowndes High School took over in the circle for Kilfoyl in the bottom of the fourth. Hedgecock faced the minimum, but nearly gave up an inside-the-park homerun as Texas' Chloe Cobb tried to extend a triple and was thrown out at the plate.

Gainesville's Chloe Culp of North Florida Christian High School opened the fifth inning with a triple, scoring on an RBI sacrifice fly from Bryn Thomas to give the Gold a 2-0 lead.

"I thought it was a good game and a good 2-0 win," Gainesville Gold head coach Jeremy McFayden said. "Texas Sudden Impact was quite a pitcher. She threw the ball well. We had to make some adjustments, but we're a scrappy team and we managed to do what we needed to get some runs across the plate."

Jacksonville Storm vs Texas Glory Adkins

In the final contest on Friday, the Jacksonville Storm (14U Girls) fell behind early but powered their way to an 8-3 win over the Texas Glory Adkins (14U Girls).

Texas' Kara Debruin singled to lead off the game and later scored on an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Glory a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Jacksonville answered in the bottom of the frame, however, as University of Florida commit Baylee Goddard notched a one-out RBI double to tie the game at 1-1. Goddard, along with teammates Hannah Goodwin and Alexis Ross, later scored on a three RBI double from Regan Hermeling. The Storm led 4-1 after the first inning.

Jacksonville's Scotland David singled in the bottom of the second inning to score Linzie LaFavor and extend the Storm's lead to 5-1. The Glory added a pair of runs, one in the third and fourth innings respectively, to pull within 5-3.

Goddard notched an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to extend Jacksonville's lead to 6-3.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, LaFavor grounded out to score Emily Ayers. On the ensuing at-bat, Jenae Wash reached first base on an error, scoring Taryn Freshwater and giving the Storm an 8-3 lead.
