We’ve posted the first 50 of the outstanding players in the revised 2017 Hot 100 and are using the halfway point to look at some early trends.

If you missed this week's rankings, you can see 100-91, 90-81, 80-71, 70-61, and 60-51 exclusively on FloSoftball!

It’s always fun to look at where things stand one week in with the Top 50 yet to be revealed.

Here are some interesting developments so far… we’ll see how it goes when all 100 are revealed!

Pictured above: Sara Jubas, one of three Beverly Bandits to make the Hot 100 so far, one of two commits to James Madison and the only player from Pennsylvania!

*** Colleges who have the most commits so far (players ranked 51-100):
  • Auburn (5)
  • Arizona (4)
  • North Carolina State (3)
  • Alabama, Florida State, James Madison, LSU, Missouri, Northwestern, Tennessee (2)
*** It’s not just your “big name” universities that are represented… Hot 100 players also go to “non-power conference schools” like:
  • East Carolina
  • Hawaii
  • James Madison
  • Nevada
  • UC Davis
*** Top club organizations with players listed so far:
  • Georgia Impact (5)
  • Beverly Bandits, Birmingham Thunderbolts, Demarini Aces, East Cobb Bullets, Explosion, NC Lady Lightning, Sorcerer Gold (3)
*** In terms of states producing players, California leads the way with the most players being from the Golden State of the 50 players released to date. The list so far goes like this:
  • California (15)
  • Georgia (7)
  • Texas (5)
  • Florida (4)
  • Alabama, Missouri (3)
*** 15 states have been represented so far: Alabama, Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

*** It’s often hard to pinpoint a player’s primary position—some may be a shortstop primarily while another may call herself a middle infielder—but here are the primary positon breakdowns of the first 50 as they were given to FloSoftball:
  • P (15)
  • C (10)
  • OF (6)
  • SS (5)

*** Finally, here are the most common first names from the first week of Hot 100 honorees:
  • Hanah/Hannah (4)
  • Maddie/Madison (3)
  • Ashleigh/Ashley, Jenna (2)
