What to watch for at Battle of the Borders


Who: Wisconsin Lightning 16U
When: vs Wisconsin Bandits Black 12:30PM FRI, vs Whitnall Rage 16U SAT
Why: 2018 Rachel Becker leads her team in average, total hits, extra base hits and runs scored. In 70 plate appearances she only struck out 2 times. She also attended the Invite only On Deck elite National Camp on 11/5/15 in Lawrenceville, Ga. Rachel was awarded the Top Hitter Award for this prestigious camp. Montana Platts, a 2018 C/3B who is the lead off batter for the Lightning. She has a knack for picking off baserunners and gunning down base stealers.

Who: Wisconsin Lightning 18U
When: vs Indiana Venom at 5:00PM FRI, vs Lockport Pride at 2:00PM SAT
Why: The Lightning have nine committed players on their roster with three standouts to watch this weekend. Jules Egoeske will be at first and in the circle and was recently named first team all conference. Jenn Giesey is their best defender at shortstop and a strong performer at the plate. Morgan Dunkleberger INF/C Fort Atkinson High School, FT. Atkinson, WI very versatile player can play anywhere but pitcher; the ultimate utility player; great leader; lead her high school conference in hitting

Who: Oshkosh Spartan 18U
When: vs Pulaski Raiders at 2:00PM SAT
Why: Oshkosh come off a 40-10 with a core group who received high school state awards. From behind the plate to the outfield, Sammy Buerger is the team caption who batted .377 last summer. In the circle, Shaye Gauthier will be wheeling, dealing, and also driving the ball in the gaps. Gauthier led Oshkosh in doubles last season. The Neveau sisters Lauren and Libby bring strong offense and defense. Lauren Neveau led the team in hitting batting .525.
