Over the next week we’ll be honoring prep standouts who dominated and excelled at the high school level with the following schedule of lists and honors:

  • Wed., June 22 - FloSoftball 2nd Team All-Americans
  • Thu., June 23 - FloSoftball 1st Team All-Americans (Pitchers)
  • Fri., June 24 - FloSoftball 1st Team All-Americans (Catchers)
  • Sat., June 25 - FloSoftball 1st Team All-Americans (Infielders)
  • Sun., June 26 - FloSoftball 1st Team All-Americans (Outfielders)
  • Mon., June 27 - FloSoftball 1st Team All-Americans (Multi-Purpose)
  • Tue., June 28 - FloSoftball High School Player & Coach of the Year
Our list is the deepest and most thorough you will see as we feel it necessary to honor all those who earned the right to be considered as a FloSoftball All-American!

The criteria for selection includes a combination of all the following factors:
  • performance on the field
  • overall contribution to the team’s success
  • talent and skills (athletic and softball-specific)
  • off the field success (academic, community, charity, etc.)

1st Team FloSoftball All-Americans: Pitchers

Jr. Holly Azevedo Pioneer (San Jose CA)—UCLA
The NorCal standout has only given up six earned runs over the last two years and went 25-3 this spring with a 0.18 ERA after winning 28 games as a sophomore for the Mustangs. Holly pitched every inning for her team this year and also improved at the plate knocking in 20 runs. She’s rated No. 39 in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100.

nullSr. Maggie Balint Avon Grove (West Grove PA)—Oregon
Maggie earned her third straight Gatorade State Player of the Year honor by leading the Red Devils to the PIAA AAAA state title game despite being the only senior on a team that fielded six sophomores and a freshman. She went 24-4 in the circle with a 0.50 ERA and struck out 371 in 195 innings while limiting opponents to a .090 batting average. Maggie is rated No. 4 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Sr. Sydney Bates Western (Davie FL)—Florida State
Sydney led the Wildcats to the state playoffs for the first time in 14 years as she went 20-4 with a 0.38 ERA while striking out 279. She also threw five no-hitters. The Seminole signee, who was the All-Broward Co. 9A-7A Player of the Year, also hit .549 with six home runs and 29 RBI batting in the middle of the lineup.

Jr. Meghan Beaubien St. Mary Catholic Central (Monroe MI)—Michigan
You can’t cap off a season any better than Meghan did as she pitched perfect games in the Div. 3 semifinals and championship game to lead the Kestrels to a second straight state title. The lefty ranked No. 5 in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100 also repeated as a 1st Team FloSoftball All-American.

Sr. Katie Chronister Gainesville (FL)—Florida
Katie earned Gatorade State Player of the Year and Class 7A State Pitcher of the Year honors as she led the Hurricanes to a state championship. The lefty hurler went 28-2 with a 0.53 in the circle and recorded 272 strikeouts in 186 1/3rd innings. The Gator signee threw 12 shutouts and gave up just 92 hits and 36 walks on the season.

Jr. Mary Haff Lake Region (Eagle Lake FL)—Arkansas
Mary led her team to the 7A state title game and went 20-2 on the season with a 0.32 ERA and 258 strikeouts in 153 1/3rd innings. Of her 22 games pitched for the Thunder this spring, 19 were complete games, 15 were shutouts and three were no-hitters. The future SEC signee is ranked No. 42 in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100.

nullJr. Olivia Kinsey Park Hill South (Riverside MO)—Oregon
Olivia went 17-3 with 1.03 ERA last fall and was named the Kansas City Star’s All-Metro Player of the Year as well as the Gatorade State Player of the Year. The Oregon commit struck out 236 in 122 1/3rd inning and is rated No. 35 in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100.

Jr. Lauren Mathis West Orange (Winter Garden FL)—Georgia
Nearly flawless this spring, Lauren led the Warriors to the FloSoftball FAB 50 No. 1 ranking and Class 9A state title and was selected as Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Softball. She was also the 9A Player of the Year after going 25-1 with a 0.15 ERA and averaged nearly two Ks per inning as she had 272 strikeouts in 138 innings. She is ranked as the No. 36 recruit in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100.

Jr. Allison Muraskin Coral Springs Charter (Coral Springs FL)—Central Florida
Last year, Allison was the Florida Class 4A Player of the Year and this season she earned the same honor at the 5A level. She also has two straight state championships to her credit, this year thanks to a 23-3 effort in the circle to go with a 0.55 ERA and 256 strikeouts in 140 innings.

Jr. Kelsey Oh Mount St. Dominic (Caldwell NJ)—South Carolina
Kelsey repeats as a FloSoftball 1st Team All-American as well as the Gatorade Player of the Year after leading her team to the NJSIAA Non-Public A softball final. She went 20-4 on the season with 290 Ks and a 0.94 ERA. One of the top prospects on the East Coast, the tall hurler is rated as the No. 18 player in the 2017 Hot 100.
