This week we’re honoring prep standouts who dominated and excelled at the high school level with the following schedule of lists and honors:

Our list is the deepest and most thorough you will see as we feel it necessary to honor all those who earned the right to be considered as a FloSoftball All-American!

The criteria for selection includes a combination of all the following factors:

  • performance on the field
  • overall contribution to the team’s success
  • talent and skills (athletic and softball-specific)
  • off the field success (academic, community, charity, etc.)

1st Team FloSoftball All-Americans: Infielders

Sr. Nicole Bates Ceres (CA)—Washington
Nicole repeats as a 1st Team FloSoftball All-American after hitting .571 this spring with 60 hits, 33 RBI, 45 runs and a .981 fielding percentage.  She was chosen as the All-District Player of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to its first sectional title (Div. III) in 21 years by going 6-for-7 in the championship series. Nicole, who goes by the nickname “Sis,” made the final five for Miss Softball in California and also earned All-Conference honors this winter in basketball. She is the No. 12 rated prospect in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Sr. Mackenzie Boesel Orange Lutheran (Orange CA)—South Carolina
Mackenzie shined on offense and defense for OLU as the leadoff hitter and athletic shortstop and led the So Cal team to the No. 11 ranking in the FloSoftball FAB 50 (it was No. 1 until the loss to Mater Dei in the CIFSS Div. I finals).  “Mac” did her part on the year, hitting .418 with 35 runs scored, 32 RBI and 11 steals to earn 1st Team All-Orange County honors by OCSidelines.com. She is ranked No. 8 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Sr. Elissa Brown Elmore Co. (Eclectic AL) —Alabama
One of the quickest players in the 2016 class, Elissa is a triple threat at the plate in that she can put the ball on the dirt and hit away and manufacture offense.  She batted .640 for the Panthers to rank at the top of the Class 4A hitters and had a stellar .730 on-base percentage with 55 hits in 86 at-bats and 27 walks compared to only four strikeouts all year. The athleticism translated into 13 triples and 43 bases to earn Elissa her third year of All-State honors in softball. She was also All-State in basketball and is her school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,946 points. Elissa is ranked No. 22 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Jr. Lauren Burke Marist Catholic (Eugene OR)—Oregon
Not too many leadoff hitters slug 21 home runs, but that’s Lauren—a versatile shortstop and utility player—did this spring in the Northwest.  Her numbers were video-game like: .701 batting average, 67 runs, 59 RBI and on-base percentage of .727 and a 1.476 slugging mark not to mention a 12-to-1 walk-to-strikeout ratio and 24 steals on 26 attempts. Not surprisingly, she earned Gatorade and 5A State Player of the Year honors and will reunite with Ducks coach Mike White who she played for in travel ball from ages 7-11 years old.

Sr. Mia Camuso Shasta (Redding CA)—Oregon
Mia was a 2nd Team FloSoftball All-American in 2015 and moves up to 1st Team after showcasing her great defensive skills at third base and dangerous bat on offense.  In 34 games, the NorCal standout hit .574 with 50 RBI, 14 homers and a 24 walks to give her a .661 on-base percentage and eye-opening 1.916 OPS. With her glove, the future Duck had a .980 fielding percentage on 200 total chances with 182 put-outs in the infield and only four errors. Mia is No. 18 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Sr. Nicky Dawson Parkview Baptist (Baton Rouge LA —LSU
One of the top overall athletes in softball at any level, Nicky shattered several national career records including triples (49), runs scored (291) and steals (324). The middle infielder is the Louisiana High School 60-meter dash champ and used that great speed to put up big numbers including a .658 batting average, 75 runs scored, nine triples and 58 steals without being thrown out.  She also had 35 walks (12 intentional) and only struck out three times in 180 plate appearances.  Nicky is ranked No. 30 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Sr. Maggie Gallagher Kennedy (Catholic WA)—Washington
Maggie, who was born in China and adopted by a Seattle family when she was 18 months old, has become one of the top hitters in the 2016 class.  The Gatorade State Player of the Year batted .714 with 17 home runs this spring along with 53 RBI and 27 walks to give her a .798 on-base percentage and a 1.840 slugging percentage.  An All-State shortstop, she will play for the Huskies just minutes from her home.

Sr. Jaimie Hoover Collins Hill (Suwanee GA)—Florida
Daughter of a club coach, Jaimie shines at third and short with the toughness to play catcher too. A Georgia All-State and All-County honoree, this batted .442 this season and set her school record with 106 career RBI.  The Gator signee helped lead the Eagles to a Class 6A title when she was a freshman and has been a standout on the high school and club scene ever since. Jaimie is rated No. 14 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Sr. Claire Jenkins Cullman (AL)—Alabama
In a strong year for talent in Alabama, Claire showed her strengths as a dangerous leadoff hitter by batting .457 with 69 hits, 61 runs scored and 15 home runs.  A standout at shortstop, the Crimson Tide signee led the Lady Bearcats to a 4th place finish at state and was selected to the Super All-State Team and was picked as the Class 6A Player of the Year. Claire is No. 86 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Jr. Jana Johns Calhoun (GA)—South Carolina
Jana was a three-time Georgia High School Assoc. 3A state champion and came up huge this year hitting the game-winning solo home run in the 1-0 title game win.  She hit .529 with 64 RBI, 53 runs and a 1.553 OPS for 35-4 team.  Jana was a three-year 1st Team All-State honoree and was the Georgia Dugout Club 3A State Player of the Year.  The junior also was 1st Team All-State in Basketball and scored her 1,000th career point this winter. Jana is No. 68 in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100.

Sr. Abby Krzywiecki Mercy (Farmington Hills MI)—South Alabama
Abby did it all this spring as she led the Marlins to a Div. I state title and on the same day was named as Michigan’s “Miss Softball.” She batted .559 and set a state record with 20 home runs and in 143 at-bats had 92 RBI and only 10 strikeouts. Her superb senior year helped put Abby in the Top 10 all-time in Michigan high school softball history in 12 categories including ranking No. 2 in home runs (48) and RBI (238).

Sr. Kylee Love Walnut Grove (Loganville GA)—Georgia State
Kylee had an outstanding fall including a three-run homer in the title game against Buford, which won to capture its 9th straight state title. Nevertheless, the first baseman had a record-setting year including her state mark of 69 RBI, best all-time for one season in Peach State history.  She had a .454 career batting average and earned All-State honors three times and was the Class 4A State Player of the Year as a senior.

Sr. Justus Perry Curry (Jasper AL)—Auburn
Justus, who moved from Minnesota where she was an All-State player prior to her senior year, was one of the offensive stars for the Yellow Jackets which went 47-2 to capture a second straight state title and finish No. 5 in the FloSoftball FAB 50.  Justus hit .560 with 14 home runs, 59 RBI and 22 doubles and had a perfect fielding percentage playing first base where the Tigers signee had 44 total chances.  The power hitter is ranked No. 37 in the FloSoftball 2016 Hot 100.

Jr. Mary Katherine Tedder Spain Park (Hoover AL) —Texas
Mary Katherine was named as the Alabama 7A Player of the Year and earned 1st Team All-State honors after batting .457 with 20 home runs, 56 runs, 31 walks and an impressive 74 RBI—not bad power numbers especially coming from a sleek-fielding shortstop.  MK also led the Jaguars to a state runner-up finish in the largest classification in the state. She’s ranked No. 20 in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100.

Fr. Alynah Torres Cactus (Glendale AZ)—Arizona State
One of the most promising underclassmen in the country, Alynah had a monster first varsity season for the Cobras as she hit .590 playing against top-level competiton with 69 hits, 63 RBI and 14 home runs to give her a 1.162 slugging percentage and a 1.796 OPS. Playing shortstop, he helped turn seven double plays and a .933 fielding percentage. Alynah was an All-Arizona selection and helped lead Cactus to a Div. II second-place finish. She is ranked No. 32 in the FloSoftball 2019 Hot 100.

Jr. Camryn Ybarra Mission Viejo (CA)—Oregon State
Camryn helped lead the Diablos to a 27-4 record and No. 2 overall national record ranking in the FloSoftball FAB 50 as she hit .514 with 12 home runs and 30 RBI.  The future Beaver also had a .617 on-base percentage and in the field had a .964 fielding percentage. In the playoffs she went 10-for-18 (.555) with seven RBI and five home runs.  A CalHiSports.com finalist for California State Player of the Year, she was also honored as the OC Register and OCSidelines.com Player of the Year in Orange County. Camryn is rated No. 20 in the FloSoftball 2017 Hot 100.
