Super Stars Championship Friday Recap
With cloudless skies and a mild breeze, we could not ask for better weather at the Super Stars Championship this Friday. I saw a number of talented hitters at Super Stars, but defense sure could use some tuning up. We'll have to watch tomorrow to see if conditions improve.

Rock Gold Waye vs Finesse 18U - Dreher

It was a back and forth battle between Rock Gold and Finesse.

Rock Gold drew first blood scoring Villanova commit Julia DaCosta from second on a line drive by LSU commit Morgan Cummins.

Finesse fought back when outfielder Tala Dean roped a line drive up the middle followed by an error. With runners on first and second, Chelsea Wiggins (2017, Oakland) laid down the sacrifice bunt. No one covered first, Newton threw the ball in the dirt and Dean scored from second. The game is tied 1-1.

With runners on second and third and two outs, LeHigh-commit Sophie VanAcker slapped a hard ground ball up the middle to the shortstop and she legged out an infield single to score another run. Finesse pulled ahead 2-1.

Virginia Tech-commit Jenna Khantizian comes for relief for Rock Gold in the bottom of the fourth. 

In the top of the sixth, Rock Gold took back the lead scoring three runs on three errors. When Julia DaCosta singled to left, the throw from VanAcker in left field hit the helmet of Zoey Jones running home allowing the next run to score putting Rock Gold up by one.

DaCosta scored from third on a wild pitch by Chelsea Wiggins. Rock Gold are up 4-2.

In the bottom of the seventh bases loaded, Khantizan got out of a bases loaded jam to close out the game. She picked up the save.

Tampa Mustangs Bell vs ACES 18U (Ashley/Creamer)

Tampa Mustangs Bell handled business against ACES 18U run ruling them in six innings. The Mustangs were red hot on offense spraying the ball to all fields.

ACES started off aggressive with Taise Thompson (2017, Bradley) hitting a two out double. Kiara Delgado followed with a single over the shortstop to score Thompson from second. Delgado advanced to second on the throw home. Aces strike first 1-0.

The Mustangs wasted no time answering back when Jordyn Kadlub popped a single through the 5-6 hole. Alexis Johns laid down the sac bunt. Kadlub takes advantage of the vacancy at third. Stephanie Dwyer singles up the middle to score Kadlub.

With runners on first and third, pitcher Alexys Lawson singles one through the 5-6 hole to score run Dwyer and put the Mustangs up 2-1.

More trouble ensued for the ACES' Andrea Cady with bases loaded, a wild pitch scored the runner from third. The Mustangs stretch the lead 5-1. Mustang's third baseman Linsey Harper crushed the ball to left center adding another run to the board.

Kadlub came up clutch again lining a base hit down the left field line to score Harper. The game ends in a run rule 8-1 in the sixth inning. Alexys Lawson threw a complete game.
