It's been an exciting fall, and now it's time to break the Master Verbal commitment list down.

The months of September to November saw 513 players commit. Of that total, only 200 (40 percent) committed to Power 5 schools, with the Southeastern Conference leading the way with 60 commits.

Since we have started breaking down our Master Verbal lists, the SEC has always been the conference with the most commitments. The SEC schools with the most commits are Tennessee (11), Kentucky (9), and Auburn (8). 

The Big Ten followed the SEC with 43 commits. Penn State and Purdue each managed five verbals over the fall, and Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Northwestern, and Ohio State tied with four each.

The Pac-12 and ACC were close behind with 41 and 37 commits. Oregon State led the Pac-12 with 10, and Duke, Notre Dame, and Pitt tied with six. This is really exciting for Duke, as the Blue Devils open the 2017 season with a brand new program, team, and stadium. The Big 12 fell short of every other conference with 19 commits.



Of those 19 commits to Big 12 schools, Texas led the way with four.

The 2021 verbals are slowly growing, and the fall saw six commits join the list. Aubrey Barnhart, C/3B for Tennessee Mojo (Auburn), and Savannah Polamalu, MIF for the Corona Angels (UCLA), will be players to watch going into the 2017 club season.

The 2017 class accounted for 35 percent of the commits with 181. The class of 2018 committed 157 players for a total of 31 percent of the commits. The 2019 class committed the third most players with 116 and the 2020 class came in with 53. Fall also means National Signing Day for the senior class, and we saw a huge number of commits lock in their futures as softball players.



Of the total 59 commits from the classes of 2020 and 2021, 41 players accounting for 69 percent will be playing for schools in the Power 5 conferences.

Among club teams, the Firecrackers organization committed a whopping 35 players. The So Cal Athletics followed behind with 24, and the OC Batbusters were right on their heals with 23. The Ohio Outlaws followed in fourth with 17 commits, and the East Cobb Bullets out of Georgia took fifth with 14.

Tennessee was the school with the most commits, bringing in 11. Oregon State was a close second, bringing in 10. Kentucky and Auburn took third and fourth with nine and eight, respectively. Not surprisingly, a majority of the committed players are pitchers and catchers. Pitchers accounted for 127 commits and catchers 72 commits, giving the battery positions 42 percent of the verbals this fall.
