Carrie Jacoby, an eighth grader at Mill Creek Middle School, recently competed at the Faster2First Showcase held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is a catcher and utility player for Northern Calvert Fury 14U in Maryland and batted .469 in 2016 with an OBP of .564 in 2016.

During a Faster2First showcase game, Carrie smacked a double on the first pitch to advance a runner to third. Her team came back to win the game 14 to 9.

Jacoby participated in numerous camps in 2016, including the Shippensburg University camp, Jen Schro Catching Clinics, and the Fastpitch Master LLC catchers Clinic. Carrie attended the USA National Players Clinic in 2015. She is an honor student in English, Math, Science, and Spanish and has a GPA of 3.89.

Jacoby will be a force to reckon with as she arrives in high school and works towards becoming a ranked player in the 2021 class.

When did you first realize you loved softball?
My first year playing Pony Tail and our team went 11-0.

What has been your best experience on the field?
Making the last out at home and completing a triple play.

What are your top goals in 2017?
To train and become a better player and get ranked in the top 100 among my graduating year group.

What are some of your favorite colleges?
Michigan, Auburn, and the Naval Academy.

Funniest thing you've seen while playing
I had a pitcher on my old team that sometimes lost her grip and the ball would fly backwards to second base.

Spaghetti/Chick-Fil-A nuggets

Favorite ice cream and topping:
Vanilla and Chocolate swirl waffle cone with rainbow sprinkles.

Favorite holiday and why:
Christmas, because my birthday is the same month and I love decorating the house and tree.

One thing you would have on a deserted island:
Endless supply of food and water.

What do you think you do best on the field?null
I lead by example and support ALL my teammates.

Best advice you've ever been given:
Treat people the way you would want to be treated and always have a smile on your face.

Any softball rituals or superstitions when you play?
I drink Chocolate Milk and keep my rosary in my back pocket.
