What Makes a Hot 100 Player?
We've posted the first half of the outstanding players in the new 2019 Hot 100 and halfway through are looking at some interesting developments.

Here's what we're seeing so far with the first week of the elite group revealed:


*** Colleges who have the most commits so far (players ranked 51-100):
• Oklahoma (5)
• Georgia, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Tennessee (3)
• Auburn, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Utah, Virginia Tech (2)

*** It's not just your "big name" universities that are represented… Hot 100 players also go to "Non-Power 5 conference schools" like:
• Dartmouth
• Troy

*** Top club organizations with players listed so far (may include different teams within the program):
• Firecrackers (6)
• Georgia Impact (5)
• Beverly Bandits (4)
• Explosion, So Cal Athletics, Texas Bombers, Texas Glory - Shelton (3)
• Birmingham Thunderbolts, Corona Angels, Lady Lightning, OC Batbusters, So Cal Choppers, Texas Glory -- Adkins/Ratliff, Tennessee Fury Platinum, Tulsa Elite (2)

*** In terms of states producing players, California leads the way with 17 players being from the Golden State of the 50 players released to date. The list so far goes like this:

• Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Washington (2)

*** 21 states have been represented so far--which ties an all-time high for our Hot 100 lists: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

*** It's often hard to pinpoint a player's primary position--some may be a shortstop primarily while another may call herself a middle infielder--but here are the top primary positions as they were given to FloSoftball:
• Pitcher (19)
• Outfielder (16)
• Catcher (8)
• Shortstop (6)
• Infielder (5)

*** Here are the most common first names from the first week of Hot 100 honorees:
• Madison/Madisyn/Madi (4)
• Jenna (3)

*** Finally, we finish our list with one that's subjective--the most cool, uncommon or unusual first names:
