Rising Star: 2020 Catcher Kayla Liske Rebounds After Broken Femur
Last summer, Kayla Liske was in a collision with her second baseman and broke her leg. That injury left her sidelined for about five months.

She spent two months on crutches before transitioning into physical therapy. This was her first serious injury and you can imagine her time away from the field was agonizing.

"It was terrible. Knowing that my entire team was in Colorado playing and I was sitting on the couch watching TV. It was sad." Liske said.

Her broken femur slowed the recruiting process down dramatically. The only thing Liske could do was stay focused on getting better to get back on the field again.

"I was working really hard, doing all my exercises. I was so determined to get back in it." she stated.

Liske starting playing travel ball for Orion Hunter Teal at age seven. Catching was the position that grabbed her attention. "I love catching. It's the best position." Liske elaborates. " It's more exciting. You get the ball every time and you're involved in every play."

Her coaches have described her as the epitome of grit and hustle. As a catcher, she takes great pride in keeping everything in front by blocking balls in the dirt.

Before her injury, she consistently posted a batting average over .400 for Orion Hunter Teal.
