#1 vs #2. 12-0 vs 18-0. NCAA champ vs NCAA champ. Junior World champ vs Junior World champ. Hodge finalist vs Hodge finalist. Top-five recruit vs top-five recruit. It doesn’t get any bigger or better than Keegan O’Toole vs David Carr. The two will face off Wednesday night at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Missouri in the biggest regular season match of the year.

When 2021 157 lbs NCAA Carr announced he would be moving up to 165 lbs, wrestling fans across the country immediately circled January 1st and 2nd as a must-watch date as that was the first time we could see a potential Carr vs O’Toole match. However, with Iowa State’s already busy schedule leading up to winter break and O’Toole nursing a minor injury, both opted to rest up and recover over the holidays. 

This only allowed anticipation to build, and now the time is finally here. With both teams still in play for the title of unofficial Big 12 regular season team champions, in a dual that will likely come down to the wire, there can be no ducking from either man. 

David knows it. When asked this preseason if there was any person in particular he wanted to get his hands on there was no hesitation in his answer, “well obviously Keegan O’Toole.” The Iowa State star’s tone hasn’t changed as he reminded everyone on Twitter what is happening Wednesday evening.
