Six teams vie for the 2025 GLIAC championship when they take to Rosemont, Illinois, for this year's GLIAC Softball Tournament.

After running away with the GLIAC regular-season championship, Saginaw Valley State heads into the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed, looking for a dual-crown. The Cardinals begin play on May 2, the second day of the GLIAC Championship.

Competition kicks off on Thursday, May 1, with No. 3 seed Ferris State taking on first-year GLIAC member Roosevelt, and fourth-seeded Parkside facing off against No. 5 Wayne State.

GLIAC Softball Tournament 2025 Teams

Here are the six teams competing in the GLIAC Softball Tournament:

No. 1 Saginaw Valley State Softball

2025 Record: 40-12, 23-5

What to Know:  The Cardinals soared atop the GLIAC in the regular season with the best batting in terms of average and best pitching by ERA in the conference. SVSU batters combined to hit .310 for the campaign and .340 in league play, with Ella Reifschneider (.367), Aalana Kimble (.366), and Olivia Elliott (.348) setting the pace.

Kenzie Bromley, who heads into the postseason batting .301, was also among the GLIAC's most prolific hitters with 14 home runs and 49 RBI, both good for second in the conference.

Kimble doubled in bolstering SVSU's outstanding 2.47 team ERA and 347 strikeouts, fanning 99 while maintaining a 2.64 ERA. Headlining the SVSU pitching staff, meanwhile, is one of the most dominant starters in all of college softball, Macy Irelan.

Ireland's 1.25 ERA is less than half the next-lowest in the conference, while her 198 strikeouts are 81 more than the GLIAC's next-most productive pitcher. If Irelan is on, the Cardinals will be tough to beat in either the GLIAC or the NCAA Tournament.

No. 2 Grand Valley State Softball

2025 Record: 26-24, 17-11

What to Know: Winning 10-of-13 to close out the regular season, Grand Valley State heads to Rosemont with positive momentum. That extends to Elizabeth Wesoloski, who has belted eight of her team-leading nine home runs since April 12 — one of which came in a 2-for-4 performance at the dish vs. Saginaw Valley State.

Wesoloski's bat coming alive late to deliver the long ball adds an explosive element to a GVSU offense that can wreak havoc on the paths with Faith Edwards and Eliana Eiland combining for 30 stolen bases.

Starters Karli Dorr and Nevaeh Ingram sport ERAs of 2.81 and 2.61 in their 124 2/3 and 142 1/3 innings pitched. Dorr has also struck out 115 to help bolster the GVSU defense.

No. 3 Ferris State Softball

2025 Record: 27-17, 16-12

What to Know: Ferris State has endured some ups and downs in 2025, evident in the Bulldogs' finish to the regular season. They followed up a win over regular-season GLIAC champion Saginaw Valley State, dropping both games in a home series vs. Wayne State, but then rebounded to win three of the final four and secure the No. 3 seed.

Having shown they can beat the best in the league, however, the Bulldogs can make some noise in Rosemont. Wins over both SVSU and Grand Valley State came with Ferris State plating seven runs in each. Catcher Paige Antcliff drove in runs in both victories, including three vs. SVSU.

Another bat supporting Ferris State's leading hitter of 2025, Alexis Kozlowski, will be crucial for the Bulldogs' run in the GLIAC Tournament. Kozlowski comes into the postseason with a .380 average, 40 RBI, and four home runs — all team-highs.

No. 4 Parkside Softball

2025 Record: 25-22, 14-13

What to Know: Some impressive offensive performances in the final weeks of the regular season provide the foundation for a possible Parkside run in the GLIAC Tournament. The Rangers pushed across seven or more runs in five wins since April 16, culminating in an 11-2 defeat of Ferris State to close the docket.

Behind the big bat of Mia Johnson, whose 17 home runs lead the GLIAC, Parkside has plenty of firepower to score with any team in the league.

The big key for the Rangers in Rosemont will be pitching. Starter Olivia Masnica has a 3.00 ERA, while Ellie Curtis has struck out 56, but opponents have hit .280 and .273 against Parkside's two primary throwers this season.

No. 5 Wayne State Softball

2025 Record: 23-30, 12-16

What to Know: The Warriors look to shock the GLIAC field in Rosemont and will turn to some productive bats in that pursuit. Logan Forman, batting .344 for the season, leads Wayne State with 11 home runs in 157 at-bats.

Forman's 34 RBIs are second among all Warriors, behind only Elly Koopman's 39. Koopman has a .327 average and has knocked 11 doubles to match Forman for a team-high.

In the circle, Koopman has also produced a 3.20 ERA in seven appearances. Wayne State's primary starter, Grace Fisher, has a 3.51 ERA and 74 strikeouts. Sydney Long's 76 strikeouts lead the Warriors.

No. 6 Roosevelt Softball

2025 Record: 17-29, 11-17

What to Know: Chicago-based GLIAC newcomer Roosevelt qualified for the conference tournament in its first year of NCAA Division II membership. The former NAIA program solidified its place in the postseason with a stretch of winning 5-of-7 late in the campaign, including scoring a win over Grand Valley State on April 17.

The Lakers aim to make a surprise splash in the GLIAC Tournament, playing closest to home of any of the six teams in the field. Roosevelt also brings a steady combination at the plate in Ella Dvoracek and Athena Pomele-Pen, who are batting .373 and .326 with OPS of greater than .800.

Dvoracek has also swiped eight bases, second on the team to Caitlin Williams' 17 — the latter of which is fifth-most in the GLIAC.
