FloSoftball did a live blog from the Premier Girls Fastpitch National Championships on Thursday, Aug. 6, at Huntington Beach Sports Complex and Fountain Valley Sports Park. Here’s how it all went down.

The 16U Premier Division at the PGF Nationals has been filled with upsets, but the Ohana Tigers (Calif.) have emerged as a top contender after knocking off Firecrackers DFW-Greenwell (Tex.), 3-1, and Texas Impact Gold-Jackson, 4-2, to advance to the fifth round of the Winner’s Bracket on Thursday at Huntington Beach Sports Complex.

The Tigers got a huge performance from Cal State Fullerton-commit Janelle Rodriguez, who belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to propel the Tigers past Firecrackers DFW. Cal State-Fullerton-commit Samantha Kennedy broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run bomb to left field and Rodriguez scattered four hits, walked two and struck out 12 to give the Tigers the win over Impact Gold.

“This is the best team,” Rodriguez said. “I just joined this team this season and it’s been a crazy ride in PGF, just watch out for us.”

The Tigers play Tulsa Elite (Okla.) in the fifth round on Friday at 10:15 a.m. at Field 3 at Huntington Beach Sports Complex.

“Everyone’s a threat,” Rodriguez said. “That’s just how it is. We’re going to keep moving forward and play our game. It’s pretty wide open to me.”

OK Tulsa Elite 7, AZ Suncats 3: Hayleigh Galvan came through with a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to give Tulsa Elite the victory over the Suncats.

GA Impact-Jeffreys 4, KY Southern Force-Peyton 1: Tennessee-commit Gabby Sprang scattered four hits, gave up a run, walked three and struck out one to get the complete-game win for Georgia Impact.

AL Birmingham Thunderbolts ’99 3, TX Glory-Naudin 2: Alex Wilcox delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to give the Thunderbolts the win over Texas Glory.

IN 16U PREMIER WINNER’S BRACKET THIRD ROUND GAMES:

TX Impact Gold 8, GA Worth Cobras-Green 6: Caitlin Ray and Allyssah Mullis delivered RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth to help Impact Gold pull out the victory over the Cobras.

AZ Suncats 2, GA Impact-Gibson 0: UNLV-commit Mara Kemmer tossed a three-hitter with no walks and four strikeouts to record the shutout for the Suncats.

OK Tulsa Elite 4, CA The Next Level 0: Taylor Compton pitched a five-hitter with one walk and one strikeout to get the shutout for Tulsa Elite.

GA Impact-Jeffreys 8, CA Beverly Bandits So Cal-Lastrapes/McGowan 2: Ohio State-commit Niki Carver homered and drove in three runs to help Georgia Impact advance.

KY Southern Force-Peyton 3, CA Sorcerer-Williams 2: Alabama-commit Kaylee Tow and Kentucky-commit Mallory Peyton delivered RBI singles in the bottom of the ninth as Southern Force rallied to knock Sorcerer into the Loser’s Bracket.

AL Birmingham Thunderbolts ’99 3, CA Corona Angels-Slye 1: Kayla Bozeman scattered five hits, gave up a run, one walk and struck out three to get the complete game win for the T-Bolts.

TX Glory-Naudin 6, IL Beverly Bandits-Tyrrell 5: Texas A&M-commit Abby Smith drove in two runsl Lindsay Edwards went 3 for 4 with a run and Peyton Blythe went 2 for 4 with a run as Texas Glory rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to knock off the Bandits.

IN 14U PREMIER WINNER’S BRACKET FOURTH ROUND GAMES:

GA Impact-Lewis 5, CA Corona Angels-Tyson 3: Mallory Lewis had an RBI single and Auburn-commit Maddison Koepke drilled a two-run homer during a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to help Georgia Impact knock off the Angels.

CA So Cal A’s-Mercado 11, CA Firecrackers-Brashear 1: Jasmine Perezchica, Kinzie Hansen, Audrey LeClair, Presleigh Pilon and Quincee Lilio all had two hits apiece to lead the A’s 13-hit attack.

CA OC Batbusters-Campbell 12, CA Grapettes-Renfro 1: Alyssa Podhurcak went 3 for 4 with a run and two RBI and Vanessa Foreman allowed one hit, no earned runs, a walk and struck out six to get the complete game win for the Batbusters.

AL Birmingham Thunderbolts ’00-Maze 2, OH Beverly Bandits-Team Demarini 1: Bandits ace Montana Fouts, who has committed to Alabama, only gave up two hits and one walk with six strikeouts, but the Thunderbolts picked up two unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth to pick up the win.

IN 14U PREMIER WINNER’S BRACKET THIRD ROUND GAMES:

CA Corona Angels-Tyson 7, CA So Cal Choppers-Fausett 5: Peyton Cody delivered a two-run single in the top of the seventh for the Angels, who withstood a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the vitory.

GA Impact-Lewis 5, CA Salinas Storm-Jimenez 3: Savannah Stewart went 2 for 4 with a double, two runs and an RBI and Kassidy Krupit homered and drove in two runs to lift Georgia Impact.

CA Firecrackers-Brashear 7, NJ Jersey Intensity National-KOD 1: Donna Friedman went 1 for 3 with a run and three RBI and Alycia Flores went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI to lead the Firecrackers.

CA So Cal Athletics Mercado ’01 7, AZ Suncats 2:

CA Grapettes-Renfro 2, CA Corona Angels-Slye 1: Tessa Piazza came through with a game-tying two-run triple, then Megan Bower drove her in with a walk-off single to lift the Grapettes over the Angels.

CA OC Batbusters-Campbell 6, AL Birmingham Thunderbolts-Dorsett 0: Farrah Steffany pitched a no-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts for the Batbusters.

AL Birmingham Thunderbolts ’00-Maze 3, CA NorCal Firecrackers 2K-Gabales 2: Jenna Galloway drove in the game-tying run with a single and Makenna Pierce delivered a walk-off double as the T-Bolts rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to knock off the NorCal Firecrackers.
