Louisville Slugger Hit Club elite battle for MVP today!

The Louisville Slugger Hit Club starts today and it will be a full day for the 10 players who made this elite event to take place in Southern California. The event runs today through Monday evening.

The athletes check in at 8 am PST this morning and after breakfast will make an appearance at the PGF Camp/Clinic in Irvine, Calif. where they will be presented to the nearly 200 young campers.

Next, the athletes will get to hear Sue Enquist do a unique presentation on the “Hitting Mindset,” sure to be one of the highlights of the Hit Club this weekend.

Then, comes the competitive part of the weekend sure to get the 10 athletes excited; each will participate in the six drills/tests of the Louisville Slugger Hit Club Competiton listed below and at the end of the event an MVP will be named.

Brentt Eads, GM of Softball for FloSports, and Jennie Ritter, the Grassroots Manager for Softball at Louisville Slugger, will do the commentating during the event.

Itinerary for Saturday’s LOUISVILLE SLUGGER HIT CLUB COMPETITION:

[all times Pacific Standard Time]

  • 1:00 to 1:10 pm:  home-to-first timed
  • 1:10 to 1:30 pm:  bunt competition (each hitter will get 7 bunt attempts to hit cones)
  • 1:30 to 1:40 pm:  bouncing ball on bat (player will bounce a ball using bat… 2 attempts)
  • 1:40 to 2:00 pm:  target practice using tee (player must try and hit inside nets, 7 swings)
  • 2:00 to 2:30 pm:  home run derby (7 outs)
  • 2:30 to 2:55 pm:  Zepp bat speed testing
  • 2:55 to 3:00 pm:  wrap-up and MVP named!
