Delaney Elling’s blog: JO Cup & the beach

Delaney Elling is a 2016 Hot 100 first baseman/catcher from Washington, Pa., who has committed to Penn State where she plans on majoring in Bio-Medical Engineering.
The senior-to-be is a standout in the classroom and on the field. Academically she has a weighted GPA of 4.75 and is 1st in her class of 265.
In uniform, she’s playing for the Wagner’s 3n2 team this summer after earning 2nd Team FloSoftball All-American honors as well as being named 1st Team All-State as a catcher.
Delaney is blogging for FloSoftball this week about her experiences at the USA Softball JO Cup and today she took some time off from playing on the field to go visit the beach with her father…

Waking up this morning, I was extremely thankful for the three hour time difference between Pennsylvania and California!
Since we were only playing one game today, my team’s goal for the day was to increase our energy during the game and play together as a team.

Although our team seemed to have more energy, we were not able to get that timely hit to drive in our runs.
After the game, I was able to see my future Penn State teammate Maddie Seifert and talk to her and her parents before we left the fields and headed to the batting cages to prepare for the start of bracket play tomorrow!
With the majority of the day ahead of us, my father and I decided to make a trip to Laguna Beach.
We walked along the beach and explored the rocks all the while taking pictures and avoiding the insane amount of birds.
Turns out Justin Bieber was at the beach today and we only missed him by a few hours. My dad was obviously very upset! (Not that he would recognize him anyway)
Making a quick detour through the houses on the hills overlooking the beach, we finally headed back to the hotel to get some rest before the big day tomorrow.
With bracket play starting, we’re hoping to come out strong our first game and stay around as long as possible this week!
