Sydney Supple’s Blog: My First DeMarini Showcase

Sydney Supple from Oshkosh, Wisc. is one of the top 2019 players in the country and last year committed to Northwestern when she was just 13 years old. The tall lefty who is also a standout hitter will start her freshman year at Oshkosh North High School this fall, but currently is playing with the Beverly Bandits Premier 14U team at the DeMarini Invitational Showcase.
Here’s a profile we did on her last November.
In today’s blog, Sydney looks back at the week that was at the DeMarini Invitational Showcase and recaps her thoughts including being on the field with a fellow Northwestern commit who she’ll never play with!

The DeMarini Invitational Showcase more than lived up to my dreams and expectations!
The atmosphere is something you have to experience! What was most mind-blowing for me is you look around and can’t help but think this is a snapshot of the future Division 1 College Softball NCAA Tournament.
You look around the fields and almost every girl is going somewhere. You see players committed to SEC, PAC 12, Big 10, ACC, Big East, and many more major conferences.

For me, playing at my first DeMarini Invitational Showcase will be something I will forever remember. When I watch college softball the next few years I’ll be able to watch the different teams and see players from all over the country that I got to play against in travel ball.
In my last game this week, I played against the Illinois Chill 18U and got to face Lily Novak who, in just a few short weeks, will be going to Northwestern University, my future home!
It was special for the fact that I will never get to be teammates with her. When she finishes her career as a Wildcat, I will just be ready to start mine. Even though I’ll never get to play with Lily, I got to play against her and share the field with her!
One thing I’ll never forget is being one of the only two 14U teams in the tournament and, needless to say, that means being the “underdogs of the tournament.”
There is something satisfying about playing and upsetting girls three to four years older knowing you can compete at the highest levels against anyone. Before our game started our coach would say age doesn’t matter. In high school and college you play with a four-year gap; what matters is the intensity and will to win that separates you.
This weekend my team made it to the top 32 and, obviously, we would have loved to go further. When we finished our last game, I know my entire team and I could all look at each other and say we left it all on the field!
I spent a year preparing for my first shot at the DeMarini Invitational and, after playing in it, I know I will work even harder the next 12 months because now I know more on how to prepare myself.
We made a name for ourselves this year and I will be counting down the days to when we can come back next year and create an even bigger name for ourselves!
