Bailey’s Blog: Day 2 at the N.J. PGF Qualifier (6/16)

Bailey Morris, who we profiled in February as a Rising Star, is a promising 2019 catcher/infielder who already has major programs from the ACC, Big 12 and SEC looking at her.
Over the weekend she and her Team Glory – Seidel team from Virginia participated in the PGF 14U Qualifier in Hillsborough, N.J.
Bailey blogged about her on and off-the-field experiences over the weekend—here’s a look at what happened Saturday including a tour of Princeton after a big win in the qualifier—and today recaps what happened Sunday, the final day of action…

Well today was the big day for us to claim the premier berth to PGF Nationals and we knew it wouldn’t be an easy job.
I got a good night rest so me and my team were ready to play!
First up, the Conklin Raiders out of New York. We got up early on them with four runs in the first inning with Ava Reichert providing an RBI single.

We added some insurance runs when Kyndal Harrison hit a triple then Amy Hills provided a clutch two run single to push our lead to 6-3 which was the final score.
Kathryn Sandercock pitched three innings of shutout ball which lead us to the victory. I went 0-for-2 in that game with two walks and scored a run.
Next up: the CC Athletics for one of the Premier berths.
The CC Athletics went up early on us 1-0, but hot bats from Jada Cody and Kydal Harrison helped us get back in the game.
Jada had a single and Kydal had a double followed by a single form Amy Hills to tie the game at 1-1. Courtney Wyche and Kathryn Sandercock pitched well but we just couldn’t provide enough offense and lost 2-1. I went 1-for-3 with a single.

We had one last chance to secure a premier berth against the Minnesota Renegades.
We started off the bottom of the 3rd with a bang. Kydal Harrison lead off with a single, followed by a double from Lauryn Clarke and then a sacrifice fly and single from Jada Cody gave us a 2-0 lead.
We were unable to keep the lead and it came down to the bottom of the 7th for us to try and rally. Lauryn Clark led off with a double and she was able to score but we couldn’t pull it out and lost 4-3.
We secured another Platinum berth, but were disappointed we didn’t accomplish our goal of winning a Premier berth.
My team played hard and we fought till the very end. We are excited about going to California and will work very hard to win the Platinum division National Championship.
We had a great time in New Jersey and now it’s time to head home to finish up the last week of school and finals!
Next up for Team Glory-Seidel: off to Atlanta, Ga. for the Elite Futures Showcase in two weeks!
