Bailey Morris is a 2019 catcher/infielder from Virginia who we profiled in February as a Rising Star in her class and since then she’s had schools from the ACC, Big 12 and SEC call her coach about her!

Bailey plays for the Team Glory – Seidel 14U team that is playing at the PGF Qualifier in Hillsborough, N.J. this weekend in the hopes it will qualify for the PGF Nationals to be held the first week of August in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Bailey is blogging about her experiences in New Jersey and today she recaps what happened Saturday…

Today we had a our first game, which was against the Minnesota Renegades. The day started off early and I must admit I was a little tired.

We didn’t get to the hotel until after 1 am because I attended my 8th grade dance Friday night. My parents thought it was good for me to go and enjoy the night with my friends.

My team got down early 3-0 to the Renegades but we fought back and won 4-3.

Keisha Young played amazing at second base and helped us keep the Renegades to the three runs they scored in the first inning as she made a diving play to her right to save a run for us in the third inning.

Courtney Wyche pitched five shutout innings to allow us to tie the game and eventually take the lead on a single by Jada Cody. If it wasn’t for Courtney’s great pitching, we would have never had a chance to fight back and win the game.

As for me, I went 1-for-3 with a single and a RBI. I caught the entire game and threw out a runner at third to stop a rally in the fifth inning.

After the game, several of my teammates and I went to visit Princeton University.

The campus was really nice and several of my teammates had the chance to see the softball field and meet one of the softball players. I went to the bookstore with my parents so I missed out on the opportunity.

We all had a little time to unwind, so after that several of the families met up for dinner. It’s always nice to hang out after the game, especially a victory!

We went to the Skylark Diner and the food was fabulous! The chicken parmigiana and Fettuccine Alfredo was outstanding.

Well, time to relax and get some sleep! My day starts at 5:30 am. Team Glory has two big games to win Sunday to secure that premier berth to Huntington Beach!

Take care,

Bailey
