When we did our FAB 50 14U rankings, one team that got a lot of respect from fellow coaches was Victory USA coached by Danny Moore.
The So Cal-based team came in at No. 13 in the initial rankings and showed over Memorial Day it’s a team to be reckoned with after it swept through the PGF 14U Qualifier in Phoenix scoring 34 runs and giving up only four in the four games to finish No. 1 and, more importantly, win a berth to PGF Nationals.
So dominant was the Victory’s weekend that they mercy ruled teams in three of the four games they played.
Pitcher Jessica Ross, who we did a profile video on earlier, was on fire throwing a no-hitter, a one-hitter and came close to a perfect game before a soft single in the last inning of the Finals dropped in. Jessica didn’t give up an earned run all weekend.
The strong up-the-middle combo of Ashley Waco (see her video profile here) and Mya Rodriguez (a 2019 grad) were stellar up the middle and at the plate, combining for 13 hits in four games with 15 RBI.
George Washington commit KP Powell and Annie Moore, who is our video spotlight for today, knocked in home runs as well.
Speaking of Annie, in this video she talks about what it’s like being the coach’s daughter, how following in the footsteps of her ACC-bound sister had helped her and also what was her favorite camp of all time…
