PGF 14U Qualifier Sunday games rained out (5/17)

Mother Nature was the winner over the weekend making competition at the PGF 14U Qualifier in McKinney, Texas the ultimate loser.
All Sunday games were cancelled after constant rain overnight made the fields unplayable.

The Qualifier was designed to award four berths to the PGF 14U Premier Nationals later this summer in Huntington Beach and two more to the PGF 14U Platinum Nationals.
We spoke to Tournament Director Kevin Shelton this morning and he said he has sent info to PGF headquarters to get final input on how the berths will be awarded.
It would seem likely the four final teams in the Winner’s Bracket will be invited; those teams are Team Mizuno Impulse 2001, American Freedom Prospects, Firecrackers Hickman and Team Mizuno Impulse – Woodall.
For the final two berths it’s more complicated as the top four in the Loser’s Bracket, which all lost to the top four teams, would be chosen based on several factors including run average per game.
Those teams are Texas Blaze White Futures, Firecrackers DFW – Reynolds, Texas Glory Futures and Texas Blaze – Rodriquez.
Said Sheldon, “I thought the field was fairly deep as 29 ended up coming to play – four and my impression was the event was nine teams deep that were pretty strong.”
