10 Questions with Taylor Pack
FullCountSoftball.com: You were a Full Count Softball 2nd Team All-American in 2014 and are having another great year this spring… how has this season compared to last year for you and your team?
Taylor Pack: This season is going great because the whole team is coming together as a family knowing it’s our last one.
FCS.com: How do you think you’ve improved as a player over the last year?
TP: I have really been working hard this season and I think what’s improved the most is my mental game and staying positive.
FCS.com: You have a great nickname: “Snackpack.” How did that come to be?
TP: My pitcher on the high school team, and now my travel team as well, gave it to me when we were going to the store to get a snack!

FCS.com: Last year your Lady Magic – Havey 16U team had a great summer… tell us about the team: is it moving up to 18U and where are you looking forward to playing?
TP: Yes, we will be playing 18 Gold. We’re really excited for PGF Nationals because we have some new additions to our team that will really add some strength.
FCS.com: When we profiled you last November, you told us about you mentioned both of your grandfathers died of lung cancer and you felt it important to do community work including “Relay for Life” and Special Olympics. Tell us what you’ve done in the last half year to continue your efforts here…
TP: I have gotten my younger sister involved and kind of passed the torch to her to keep the fire going in our community. I have been trying to motivate everyone I can to get involved.
FCS.com: You also told us you’re an “early to bed, early to rise” person… still going to sleep at 8 pm? Plan on that continuing in college?
TP: Yes! I definitely go to bed early still. College is going to be a transition, especially for my sleep patterns.
FCS.com: What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
TP: “Pain is temporary.” Knowing that has gotten me through some hard times.
FCS.com: Academically, you do as well as on the field. Where are you in your class and what would you like to do career-wise once softball is behind you?
TP: I still have a 4.0. I am undecided on my career path at the moment!
FCS.com: For those across the country not familiar with Sutter, Calif., how would you describe your area and what fun things there are to do there?
TP: Sutter is a small agricultural community, which lays at the base of the Sutter Buttes, which is sometimes called “the world’s smallest mountain range.” It’s just a fun, close, small place where everyone knows each other and the community really rallies together for each other.
FCS.com: Is it surreal to think that in 5-6 months you’ll be at UCLA and be a college softball player? What are your thoughts there and has that sunk in yet?
TP: Yes! It’s crazy to think I’ll be there soon! I honestly don’t think it’ll sink in until I’m walking out my door because I still can’t believe it’s happening!
