Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF), based in Huntington Beach, Calif., has released its tour schedule for this summer and fall of Recruiting Camps/Clinics where players will be tested and evaluated with the results being available almost immediately to aid college coaches in the recruiting process.

PGF has previously run similar camps/combines primarily in Southern California and now look to take the model across the country with new stops in Central California, Colorado, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey.

The 2015 tour will be headed by Mike Stith, head coach of the National Champion OC Batbusters – Haning/Stith 18U team and President of the Sports Training Complex in Anaheim, Calif.

“There have always been instructional camps to help players with their on-field skills,” explains Dan Hay, President and CEO of PGF. “There’s now a growing emphasis on testing a softball player’s athleticism so she can see where she is at in terms of speed, quickness, explosion and strength and where she needs to improve.”

“To be the best player possible, you need to maximize your athleticism along with your position-specific skills. These camps and clinics will test the athletes and let them see where they stand today and where they should improve to in order to play at the next level. The next step after being tested will be getting the proper training to improve on their athleticism”

Hay feels that this is the start of an important development in softball.

“By extending into other regions of the country, we’re looking to give athletes the chance to attend an event that will help them personally, but also get exposure to college coaches.”

“We feel we’re building a solid structure in the camp and clinic model as we’ve invested a lot into technology and have brought in leading-edge companies like SportsBoard and Zepp to measure specifics in regards to hitting and bat speed and accumulating the data to get it onto a national platform for coaches to access.”

Hay and the PGF Camp/Clinic organizers suggest there are four advantages to attending one of the events:

1. Visibility on the PGF stage
   Participants can showcase their abilities by position to college coaches who are in attendance and, to those recruiters who can’t make it, player stats will be presented online.
2. Seen by College Coaches
   College Coaches will have the ability to see each player be put through an intense position-specific workout. Defensive workouts are designed to show their skills similar to game situations. Offensively, players will receive a combination of machine and live pitching.
3. Player Profiles
   Those accepted into the camp will be featured in a Player Profile Program prepared by PGF to be given to all college coaches in attendance.
4. Specific Zepp and PGF Measurement Testing
   Useful measurements used by college coaches will be obtained including Zepp Swing Metrics tracking at the plate.
