FullCountSoftball.com: When did you start playing softball?
Cami Sellers: I was four and I remember playing t-ball. We always had parades going around the block with Opening Day ceremonies, a carnival and dress up with face paint.
FCS.com: When did you realize that you had college-level talent?
CS: Probably when I started playing seriously and could play travel ball. It was then, when I was playing 12U, that I thought I could do something with it.
FCS.com: Let’s talk recruiting… tell us how you were first seen by the BC coaches and then how long until they offered you?
CS: It was last year around August, I think I was it a showcase a little before the PGF Nationals. I saw them there and my Angels’ coach, Mike Perez, said they were interested in me.
FCS.com: How did it go from seeing you to getting our offer?
CS: I called them and they offered me and then I went on a visit in November and I committed a couple months after that, on February 22.
FCS.com: Going to Boston in November must’ve been pretty cold!
CS: It was pretty cold and we went to a hockey game which was fun too. We toured the campus and then went to a football game after that.
FCS.com: What led into the decision to commit to the Eagels and why did you commit when you did?
CS: I liked the university a lot and I chose Boston College because the academics are great there and it felt like the right decision.
FCS.com: How did you tell the coaches, in person, on the phone, on an unofficial visit?
CS: I called them and said I wanted to be an Eagle and we were all really happy!
FCS.com: What was it BC said they liked about you enough to offer?
CS: They wanted a lefty power hitter and that’s what I am. I pull the ball, which is good. I can hit for average but more for power.
FCS.com: What’s been a top memory or two for you in your athletic career?
CS: Just competing as a team was a fun experience at PGF. We did well finishing 9th, though not as well as we’d hoped, but it was fun being with all my teammates.
