Haven’t done a “Pic of the Week” in a while and thought this would be a great one to bring back the photo-driven feature.

As Claire Davidson of the Vienna Stars 2002 team demonstrates at the USFA TurfWar VII Tournament held in Birmingham, Ala. this week, softball players can hit the ball hard enough to break a bat… even when it’s metal.

Who says girls don’t hit the ball hard? And the best part of the photo is she powered the ball for a single against LIDS Indiana Dreams!

The Turf War Tournament featured many of our the top teams in our FAB 50 12U Club Rankings including the No. 9 ranked Stars.

The Virginia-based team won the event which had over 40 squads from 10 states competing at the 12U level.

The Stars beat the No. 14 Tennessee Mojo in the first round of the bracket 9-4 and beat No. 26 Impact DFW 3-2 and then again 6-5 in the championship on a walk-off RBI.

It appears Impact DFW should get a bump in the ratings and the 03 Thunderbolts team which finished 3^rd was impressive too—one coach called them “scrappy as they gave teams some fits.”

The Stars and several other top 12U teams including Team Long Island, Flames 2K2, Wagner’s and Midway Orange Crush will compete later this month in Wilmington, Delaware.
