We continue our look at promising freshmen as we get ready to launch the 2018 Hot 100 in less than two weeks.

Today, we go to San Diego to check out a talented pair who play for the same club program. One is committed and we profiled her recently… the other is getting major interest from some strong academic schools!

Club Stats: 81 K’s in 68 innings, 12-2 record during fall season
GPA: 4.2
Off the Field: “Lauren does community service work building houses for the poor in San Diego,” says Power Surge head man Scott Berndes.
College: Uncommitted, being heavily recruited by Northwestern and Stanford as she wants to be a doctor.  Also has been offered by Lehigh.
Coach’s Comments: “Lauren was the talk of the fall season at 16U as she helped Power Surge win two tournament by pitching the championship games in both tournaments.  Lauren throws very hard consistently, around 62-64 mph.  At the recent OnDeck Camp she was one of only two pitchers who recorded over 60 mph pitches every pitch.”

Off the Field: Says Coach Berndes, “Her community service is off the charts as she lives on an Indian reservation and helps so many people there.”
College: verbaled to Washington
Coach’s Comments: “She lit up the fall with college interest as she came from nowhere and tore up all the camps she attended: Washington, Oregon, Stanford and Arizona State.  They all were very interested in offering her a scholarship.  But she visited Washington a few times and fell in love with the area and the school and committed to the Huskies.”
