FullCountSoftball.com: You throw a lot of different looks and pitches at opponents including a curve, screwball, rise, drop, change, backdoor curve and roll drop… for those who don’t know, what is a roll drop?
Brooke Blackwell: Roll drop is another name for a drop curve. It curves out on a right handed batter, like a curve ball, and then drops.

FCS.com: Which of these are you most comfortable throwing when the count is 3-and-2?
BB: My curve.

FCS.com: Let’s talk recruiting… tell us how you were first seen by the Teas Tech coaches and when you first learned they were serious about you? When did you commit and how?
BB: They saw me for the first time in a friendly at Texas Tech. I knew they were serious after then watched me play three weekends in a row. I committed on February 24 via telephone.

FCS.com: What led into the decision to pick Tech and why did you commit when you did?
BB: I picked Texas Tech because they offer what I want to study and because of the close drive to home. I committed because I knew this is the perfect fit for me!

FCS.com: Describe the scenario when you made it official and let them know…
BB: I called them on the phone, and just flat out told them, “I am accepting your offer.”

FCS.com: You have to be excited to be staying in-state, but then again Texas is a HUGE state! How far will you be from home and was that a factor in your decision?
BB: It’s five hours away from home and this was a huge factor in my decision.

FCS.com: What do you think (or have others said) are your strengths as a softball player?
BB: Pitching.

FCS.com: What’s been a top memory or two for you in your athletic career?
BB: I got invited by a California team to pick up with them one weekend, in California!
