Rising Star: Francesca Torraca (2/7)

Recently we ran our list of the FAB 50 16U Club Rankings and No. 2 on the list was the Beverly Bandits DeMarini team which is loaded with talent including players going to Big Ten schools like Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.

One of two uncommitted players on the team is our spotlight player today… she comes from New Jersey and probably won’t be on the market for long!

Here’s a look at this freshman speedster…

College: Uncommitted
Recruiting Attention: James Madison has picked up 10 signees or commits since the 2014 class and Francesa could be another one as she’s been to the campus several times and is hearing from the coaches who’ve asked her to attend camps at JMU. She’s also hearing from Ohio Univ. and has visited Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina.

Scouting Report: Fairly new to softball, Fran has only played softball about 3 ½ years and has a high ceiling. Passionate and competitive, her on-field strength is her speed—was reportedly clocked at a 2.5 home-to-first time at a recent camp and at the BanditFest in early January ranked in the top 85% athletically with an index of 82%. Very hard worker who is still improving with great physical tools now.

Community Work: This past Christmas Francesa received a brand new DeMarini bat from her sponsors and donated it to her high school for a silent auction after getting USA National Team star Natasha Watley and North Carolina Head Coach Donna Pappa to sign it. Proceeds of the auction went to buy technology upgrades for the school. Other off-the-field endeavors for Fran include volunteering for community service with the local Fire Department and during Hurricanes Irene and Sandy. She has also written letters to the military during the holidays.
