When you think of top club programs from the Midwest, one that should quickly come to mind is the Indiana Magic Gold organization that has five teams ranging from 18U down to 10U.

Since Full Count Softball started tracking verbal commits in the 2014 class, the Magic Gold program has produced two dozen players who’ve signed or committed to major schools including Boston College, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan State, North Carolina, Ohio State and Purdue among others.

The program was founded by Director Kim Clay in 2001 with the goal of getting “players seen on a national stage and at the same time helping them find the right college fit for each player.”

Today we’re spotlighting the 16U team which was ranked No. 33 nationally in the initial FAB 50 Club Rankings that came out last week, but has the potential—and firepower—to do some serious damage this summer and jump up the charts.

This team, coached by Brian Green, is the core of the squad that finished 2nd at the 14U Triple Crown/USA Nationals in Atlanta last summer.

Coach Green and staff grabbed three Magic Gold 16U players from last season as well as three players new to the organization and the team appears ready and poised for a big year in 2015.

Last fall, the Indiana Magic Gold 16U squad didn’t lose a game in its final 16 contests as it went 13-0-3 including a 6-0-3 record at the Diamond9 Sun Classic in Orlando, Fla.

Here’s a look at the Indiana Magic Gold 16U team with comments on each player by Coach Green:

— C/1B Lizzy Bollinger (2017, uncommitted)
“Lizzy is one of the new players to this team and adds some power to the lineup. She can catch as well as handle the corners. Lizzy has received attention of several schools including ones from the Big Ten, MAC and Big East.”

TeAnn Bringle

— UT TeAnn Bringle (2018, Indiana)
“TeAnn has been with the Magic Gold for two years. Last season – fall through summer – she batted .513 and hit 22 home runs. Yes, 22! She is another versatile player that can play almost any position.”

— 2B Karly Combs (2017, uncommitted)
“Karly is a consistent player who has seen her stock rise over the last few months. She has interest from the MAC schools as well as the Big Ten.”

— 1B/P Kristyn Eckl (2016, uncommitted)
“Kristyn joins the team after playing with last season’s Magic Gold 16U team. She shows plenty of pop in her bat and provides quality innings for the Magic.”

—SS/C Shelby Grimm (2018, uncommitted)
“Shelby is new to the program and brings a higher level of athleticism to the team. Shelby has scored well at the OnDeck camps and has provided flexibility to the lineup by allowing us to plug her into the lineup at multiple positions.”

— SS/2B/OF Maddy Newman (2017, Louisville)
“Maddy is one of the most athletic kids in the Indiana Magic Gold organization. The left-handed slapper has added blazing speed to our lineup and was a perfect 13-for-13 on stolen base attempts this fall.  She also played with the 16U team last season.”

— P/1B Taylor Nichols (2018, uncommitted)
“Taylor is in her first season with the Magic and I believe she will get some serious attention this coming summer. She has already turned the heads of several coaches including ones in the Big Ten and MAC conferences. Taylor throws several pitches and by summer she will be tough to beat.”

— OF/2B Addison Pixley (2016, uncommitted)
“Addison provides plenty of pop in her bat and does a great job of covering ground in the outfield. She played with our 16U team last season and has interest from MAC, Missouri Valley and Horizon coaches.”

Ashley Prange

— SS/C Ashley Prange (2018, Ohio State)
“Ashley is the most consistent hitter on the team and has power in her bat as well. She batted .447 with nine home runs for the Magic last season and hit another three home runs this fall. Ashley has a good shot at making the 2018 Hot 100 list in my opinion!”

— OF Katie Quinlan (2017, Michigan State)
“Katie batted .494 in the fall with a .519 on-base percentage. She has developed into one of our toughest outs and can also run; she went 16-for-18 in steals this fall.”

— C/3B Jordyn Rudd (2018, uncommitted)
“Jordyn hit .520 with seven home runs and 72 RBI last season and added another five home runs in the fall. Jordyn is close to reaching a decision about her college choice.”

— P/OF Danielle Watson (2017, Louisville)
“Danielle is a power pitcher and has added a couple pitches since last summer.  She had 91 K’s in 67 innings this fall following 189 K’s in 149 innings last season to go with a 1.40 ERA. At the plate she six of the team’s 20 home runs last fall.”
