FAB 50 Preview: Illinois Chill (1/19)

On Tuesday we’ll launch our first ever FAB 50 Club Rankings starting with the 18U division’s best of the best. We’ll subsequently have rankings in upcoming weeks of the top teams in the 16U, 14U and 12U divisions too.
As a preview of tomorrow’s rankings, we’re going to spotlight a team that will make the list, the Illinois Chill led by Coach Gerry Quinn.
Here’s a closer look on the Chill and why they’ll make the initial FAB 50, which will be updated regularly from here on…
ILLINOIS CHILL

Coach: GERRY QUINN
Founded: fall of 1998 as a 12U team
Teams in organization: three 18U teams, one 16 U team
Why FAB 50? considered the second most prominent organization in Illinois, arguably the entire Midwest
Performance
* Top 10 finishes in Boulder Independence Day Tournament the last two years (2013 and 2014).
* Has qualified for and played in every PGF National tournament since its inception in 2010, finishing 17th in 2010 and again in 2012.
* In 2014 compiled a 37-14 record including a 21-4 record in three PGF qualifiers.
* Won inaugural Demarini Invitational in 2010 and finished 2nd in 2014.
College Recruiting
* Almost every player on Chill’s premier team since 2010 has received a D1 scholarship.
* Chill had two in both the 2014 and 2016 Hot 100 lists. Also had two in the 2012 ESPN RISE (high school) Top 100.
* Recent Chill program alums having successful collegiate careers include:
- — All SEC and recent Team USA tryout invitee Paige Wilson (Georgia)
- — All Big 10 Brianna LeBeau (Northwestern)
- — Lauren Moore (career RBI and HR record holder at Loyola University)
- — Andrea DiPrima (Northwestern)
