Got some fun stuff on this last day of the work week including new verbals and some impressive young players who are future commits in the making!

Jaydra will stay in-state to play at an ACC school.

*** Thanks to Coach Rick Jeffreys who writes to say that his Georgia Impact – Jeffreys team has another big verbal:

Jaydra von Behren has committed to Georgia Tech.”

“She is a Utility Player that can play any position other than pitcher or catcher. She is a 2017 graduate and is an extremely intelligent player and gifted athlete that will be a tremendous asset for Georgia Tech.”

Here’s a nicely done skills video showing Jaydra in action:

*** Anyone looking for a very impressive 2016 catcher who has flown under the radar should check out Toni Marin on Ryan Taylor’s DeMarini Aces.

This is a very short video clip of her taking a swing but you get a sense of her frame, strength and power (hopefully the link works!).

And here’s what Ryan told me about Toni, who also has a 4.06 GPA and a 24 ACT:

Toni has the grades and athleticism to play at the next level.
Toni has the grades and athleticism to play at the next level.

“Toni has a great athletic build and stands in at 6-feet.  Her arm strength and hand speed are at the elite level and she batted .420.  Her swing is very pure and with that frame she offers a ton of power.”

“She’s played her travel ball career locally and has really flown under the radar.  I’m excited to have her this fall and for her to continue improving.  Toni is a very hard worker and eager to learn.  She gets down the line in the 2.8-2.9 range which allows her to cover good ground in the outfield also.”

“Add that to her good reads and arm strength and she’s very effective out on the corner as well.  I expect her to shake up the recruiting trail this fall; she’s going to be a steal for someone late in the 2016 class.”

*** Yesterday I put up a video of 2017 pitcher Kylee Fahy of the Corona Angels who Head Coach Marty Tyson is bullish on.

He’s also very high on another 2017 player on his team named Skye Webb who’s an outfielder who attends Temecula Valley High in Temecula, Calif.

Skye stumbled into softball after being noticed while her brother was at a batting cage.
Skye stumbled into softball after being noticed while her brother was at a batting cage.

What’s intriguing about Skye is she’s only played softball for a short time—she’s an excellent volleyball setter, but sort of stumbled into softball when she was at a batting cage with her little brother who plays baseball and a coach said she looked like an athlete and should take some swings.

The coach was impressed, told Skye she should play rec ball, she joined and skyrocketed up from there; now she’s in one of the top club programs in the country.

Skye is a lefty slapper with speed and athleticism and such elite programs as Arizona and Tennessee are following her. And with Marty’s track record of playing players, you know she’ll be going somewhere…

Talk about a Cinderalla story!

*** In May, I profiled a Rising Star named Olivia Pfeifer from Missouri… below you can see the original info, but here’s an update on her after she finished her freshman hear of high school ball this fall.

Olivia started at short and was the lead-off hitter for her team and led Hannibal High in batting average (.522), OBP (.582), hits (36) and steals (27) to earn All-Conference and All-District honors… the only freshman to do so.

This summer her travel team finished 5th at the A Nationals in Spartenburg, S.C. and she hit over .500 with an on-base percentage over .600. The 2018 standout had 105 hits in 80 games.
