Scouting report: Does it all on the field—triple threat, slaps, bunts, hits line drives, gap power, good speed, but her greatest strength may be her defensive skills. Covers a lot of ground and makes routine and the impossible plays. Bats left and throws right. Strong work ethic (sprints out and back from position). Tremendous softball IQ and is a quality teammate and leader.
Noteworthy: Mel injured her back during spring practice this year, but kept playing to help team go 16-8. She’s back to 100 percent now.
Club history: 2013: played for the 14U Sorcerers team that ended up placing 3rd at PGF in 2013 but left to join the 16U Lady Magic, because of proximity. Lady Magic ended up placing 5th in Colorado IDT, 17th at PGF, and runner-up in ASA/USA Nationals. 2014: Lady Magic won Best of the West defeating SoCal As Myers/McNee twice, won Colorado IDT, and took 5th at PGF.
