Tara Trainer’s Ice Bucket Challenge (8/20)

Tara opened the game with three straight K's and closed the game with three in the seventh.

One of the great things about a viral, organic movement like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is it gets many people’s minds into service towards others.  It’s no different in the softball world and today I’m going to present a few of these videos that have come my way

The first came unsolicited from one of the top pitchers in the country, Tara Trainer, who was a 1st team All-American this year and also is listed in the 2015 Hot 100 prospect list.

Tara very graciously wrote the letter below and, though I’m a bit embarrassed by her very kind words, I wanted to let her share her experience and feelings around the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

Great to see our young athletes are caught up in the movement to help others!

Hi All:

I wanted to give a shout out to FullCountSoftball.com and Brentt Eads for providing a wealth of softball knowledge and amazing stories for all to enjoy.

Tara Trainer's recovery story after a near fatal accident was one of the top stories of 2013.
Tara Trainer’s recovery story after a near fatal accident was one of the top stories of 2013… and now she’s giving back to others.

I got to know Brentt in 2013 when he interviewed me following a car accident that changed my life. His article really captured the difficulties I faced in coming back from my injuries and having to face the prospect of losing something I cared so much about.

Check out his great writing in this article on my accident and recovery called “Tara’s Road to Recovery.”

Last week I was challenged to do the #IceBucketChallege or make a donation to ALS. I did both and I wanted to share my video and Sports Center Pete’s Frate’s video with all of you. You’ll see Pete was the reason behind the movement that has donated millions of dollars to this worthy cause.
