CA Kryptonite discontinued (8/15)
CA Kryptonite discontinued (8/15)

I got a note this morning from Derek Bowers, the President and Recruiting Director of the CA Kryptonite saying the following:
“I just wanted to send you a quick update on the CA Kryptonite. Due to my hectic work schedule professionally, I was not able to devote enough time to the softball organization over the past year in order to keep up the high quality standard we have had for five years.”
“In the interest of quality for the players, I made the tough decision to shut down the entire operation.”
If you’ve been in a tournament with the Kryptonite you knew who they were if only for their bright lime green jerseys, but the program had a lot of talented players come through too.
Three 2014 grads will play at the next level:
- P/IF Lauren Castro (Canisius)
- 3B/OF Natalie Dorsey (Cal State Stanislaus)
- P Kim Nelson (St. Martin’s)

… a trio of incoming seniors, including Derek’s daughter, Danielle, had committed as well:
- OF Danielle Bowers (Cal)
- C/IF Marcella Kay (Seattle)
- OF Haley Wymbs (UC Davis)
…. as had one very talented 2016 in 1B/OF Alexis Lindsey, who is headed to South Carolina.
The organization included an 18U Gold team, a 16U squad and two 14U teams and played at a high level including the PGF Nationals and Zoom into June tournament this summer.
The 16U team, in fact, tied for 13th at PGF Nationals going 2-2.
