Welcome to the new site! (8/12)

You probably were a bit surprised as you went to StudentSportsSoftball.com today and, lo and behold, got a whole new look!

If you’re anything like me, you like comfort and routine so a new look with new features—no matter how appealing— is a discomfort at first. However, I’m confident in a very short time you’ll get used to the new layout and find everything you’ve grown accustomed to seeing, from the Hot 100’s to the Master Verbal List to Player Spotlights.

The New Home

Sure, there are a few areas of the new house to tidy up—give us a few days and we should have most of the bugs zapped. Just know that we migrated over EVEYRYTHING that was in the old site, including nearly 900 posts, over 4,000 photos and hours of video clips, so there has been a lot of work put into this!

I use the analogy of building a new, improved house right next to the old one, moving over all the furniture, and having most everything the same but with a new address and more curb side appeal!

Student Sports Softball is now Full Count Softball with a new look and new great features.

The New Look

Many are asking, “Why the new look and name?”

The simple answer is I had the opportunity to start my own site and business and focus full-time on softball.

I left Student Sports on great terms and love the people there—in fact, on Saturday I stopped by to see one of their great events (the Area Code Baseball Games) and to say hello to many friends. Student Sports is the best at what it does, particularly producing the best events in high school football and baseball for clients like Nike and New Balance. I’ll miss seeing the people on a day-to-day basis.

And, as you can see from the migration of all the StudentSportsSoftball.com content to my new site, the team at SS, led by Andy Bark, was amazingly accommodating and supportive of this new endeavor—in fact, Andy and his staff were very encouraging and this couldn’t have been done without their help.

I’m excited to be able to focus full-time on softball now and even have a team to help produce more content, including social media.

Again, I know we tend to be resistant to change so hang in there… let’s go on this journey together and please feel free to contact me at any point with story ideas, corrections, news (especially happy recruiting news!) and even complaints.

I try to get back to everyone best I can and for now you can reach me at my same e-mail, brentt@studentsports.com, until I get my Full Count Softball one up and running soon.

The New Name

Finally, I’ve been asked why the name Full Count Softball?

After my friend David suggested “Full Count” it began to grow on me. When the count is 3-and-2, there’s drama built in as the next pitch will be crucial: will it be a hit, a walk, an out? Something has to happen!

“Full Count” has softball ties, obviously, but to me the key is it means something big is just about to happen. You’re just moments away from a thrilling moment.

Hopefully, you’ll be feeling the same way about this new site!
