Video: FSU commit Makinzy Herzog (8/10)

As I was walking between fields at PGF 18U Nationals a few weeks ago, I saw a girl in a “Florida State” t-shirt throwing a football (pretty darn well, I might add). I lamely joked, “Are you going there?” as I pointed to the shirt and was surprised when–although I was referring to her football skills–she replied, “Yes.”
I began talking with Makinzy Herzog and learned that she was a 2018 pitcher/outfielder who wasn’t playing in the PGF Nationals that week; she was there to watch her sister, Morgan, a 2015 outfielder on the Aces Express Gold team who has committed to Texas A&M.
Makinzy, as I would soon learn, had played in the PGF Nationals the week before on the same Texas Bombers team that another highly touted incoming freshman, Brooke Vestal, the pitcher committed to Oklahoma, plays on. And as I watched her effortlessly throw and catch the football, her compact, athletic-build reminded me greatly of a player I watched work out long ago who looked similar at that age: Lauren Gibson.
In this video, you’ll learn more about Makinzy and why she’s FSU bound as well as the other sports she competes in that has helped her become the great athlete she is today…
