So much happening now that I’ll likely be running these recruiting articles more frequently as players commit or emerge as prospects to watch.
Here are some of the notes picked up over the last 24 hours…

*** Yesterday we reported that Hunter Damico, a 2016 pitcher with the Arizona Firecrackers-Henry team, had committed to Northern Colorado.
The Arizona junior wrote me to say tell more about her verbal to the Bears:
Hunter wants to study Physical Therapy and UNC has a good program for that.
“Northern Colorado first saw me at a tournament in California and then watched me again in Arizona,” Hunter begins. “They were there watching our catcher who was verbally committed to UNC. I was pitching and they expressed an interest.”
“I had not looked into UNC but my wish list included a smaller campus, small class sizes, snow and a pre PT (physical therapy) program. I looked into it and found that UNC had all I wanted.”
“When I met coach Easley and coach Forsythe and saw their experience and love of the game I was hooked. I had a lot of respect for them. I attended a camp in February so I could get to know them. I loved their coaching style.”
“I kept in contact with them and worked hard on the things they wanted me to improve on. I attended a second camp before the fireworks tournament. They saw my hard work and liked my progress.”
“My unofficial visit was set up, we toured campus, the fields, the workout facilities and I was 100% sure this is where I was meant to be. Coach Easley and I talked for a while and she asked if I wanted to be a Bear. “
“I thought, ‘No other school could offer me anything that would make me any happier.’ I love the coaches and this is where I want to be. I feel blessed that this is God’s path for me.”
*** Yesterday while at the Surf City/PGF Summer Showcase Camp I ran into one of my favorite coaches, Jim Ziese, who has some good news from his So Cal Choppers 16U team: Abby Sweet, a 2017 2B/utility player, committed to Notre Dame.
“She committed at noon today,” Jim told me yesterday afternoon. “She’s really excited.”
Last fall when we profiled the Choppers, Coach Ziese said of Abby: “(She)is an outstanding hitter who can play second base and all outfield positions.”
As a freshman at Hart High (Newhall, Calif.) she hit .393 with a .464 on-base percentage.

*** Alexa Dawid, a 2015 centerfield with CT Charmers Gold, has verbaled to Manhattan College.
*** Kaylee Grant, a 2015 C/3B with the Northern Ice, has committed to Princeton University.
*** Finally, a note on one of the top pitchers at the Surf City/PGF Summer Showcase yesterday… Lexis Sorensen, a 2016 pitcher with the So Cal Choppers 18U team opened some eyes in Boulder when she helped the Choppers knock out the So Cal A’s in an 8-4 win.
Lexis, in the orange jersey, is a promising pitcher still on the market.
Lexis has a curve and drop that are her out pitches and also has a screw and change.
She almost committed to one of two Pac-12 school that was expecting to lose a pitcher who had committed, but both stayed so Lexis is still on the market.
And, yes, I asked if her name was related to the car and sure enough, “My mother walked out of the hospital and saw a Lexus and said that would be my name,” she confirmed. Good thing her mom didn’t see a Toyota first…
