Brooke’s blog: fun in Colorado (7/8)

“We do not play many places where we get to go on a team rafting trip in 35 degree water,” says Brooke Vestal about this past week’s trip to Colorado where she helped lead her team, Texas Bombers Futures HTX, to a third place finish in the Colorado Sparkler Super 64.
Brooke is a 2018 pitcher committed to Oklahoma and had an outstanding week, going 6-0 with 60 strikeouts in 34 2/3rd innings and only six earned runs allowed.
Today, Brooke recaps the trip including the fun she and her Bombers teammates had off the field.

I’m home now after a great week in Colorado competing in the Sparkler 16U Super 64. I brought home a big smile and many great memories.
This tournament has a feeling of its own. It was a well-run tournament played on a number of great fields under perfect weather.
We do not play many places where we get to go on a team rafting trip in 35 degree water. The rafting was great, but the highlight was seeing the team, parents and coaches wrestle themselves into their wet suits. We had a blast.

Another bonus this week was celebrating July 4 in Denver with my Bomber sisters. We had a great time and definitely enjoyed the festivities.
On the fourth we celebrated on top of the parking garage of our hotel. We had a number of teams from the Texas Bomber organization staying there and we all got together for a Texas-style fiesta with music, fireworks and many laughs.
Already looking forward to next year!
I enjoyed escaping the Texas heat and playing some great teams. Our Bombers HTX team got hot at the right time and battled to a 3rd place finish.
We put together a full team effort and held our own with the older girls. It was a great experience for our young team as we prepare for the 14-year old bracket at PGF. We still have work to do as we realize we will be playing the toughest teams around.
My next trip will be to Atlanta for Triple Crown Nationals and then off to Huntington Beach for the Big One.
Although the competition brings us to the field, the friends and memories we make along the way are priceless. When we outgrow the game, we will always have the memories.
Great week of solid team-play, ladies!
Viva Bombers HTX and may the best team win!
