StudentSportsSoftball.com: Tell us how you were first seen by the coaches, then how long until they offered?
Meg Wimmer: An assistant coach for Brown saw me at one of my high school games in May. She then saw me at two showcases in June. Finally the head coach (Katie Flynn) saw me this weekend and made the offer.
SSS.com: When did you decide to commit and what led into the decision?
MW: Just decided today (Monday)! I wanted the academic prestige, along with Division 1 softball.
SSS.com: How did you tell the coaches, in person, on the phone, on an unofficial visit?
MW: Over the phone.
SSS.com: Describe your emotions around telling them, were you more nervous or more excited?
MW: More excited.
SSS.com: How far away from home will be? Was distance a factor in your decision at all?
MW: I’ll be 5 hours from home and was looking at Northeastern schools primarily.
SSS.com: What do you think (or have others said) are your strengths as a softball player?
MW: I feel that I might not be the best softball player, but I’ll be the hardest working one!
SSS.com: What’s been a top memory or two for you in your softball career?
MW: My 14U team beating a team from Michigan twice to make the final eight. Also, last year at 18U ASA nationals winning four straight games in the loser bracket to make it to the last day of the tournament.
