Team Spotlight: So Cal Athletics 14U (5/23)

Throughout the summer Triple Crown Sports will be highlighting a softball team or club from different regions of the country and sharing their team spotlights with our site.

The goal is to bring more attention to the sport and recognize teams and players participating.
This week we spoke to Brian Tidd, manager of the 14U So Cal Athletics from Temecula, Calif. The team has experienced tremendous success since its inception in 2012 when two elite teams joined forces to form the Athletics. The roster is made up of players residing in Riverside County and San Diego County.
Look for the So Cal Athletics to make appearances in Triple Crown’s Zoom into June and the Colorado Sparkler Juniors, among other top events this summer.
Tidd said that he got into coaching “to improve upon the skills of girls willing to play softball at competitive levels and play some role in helping to shape them into fine young adults.”
He noted that his favorite part of coaching the team was the “player’s competiveness, willingness to work tirelessly, and the fact that they never back down from any competition”.
