“Summer ball is my favorite part of the year,” explains junior outfielder Amanda Lorenz, who has lead her high school team into the playoffs for the first time in years but is also excited that travel ball is just a few weeks away.
In today’s blog Amanda, whom we rank as the top prospect in the Class of 2015, talks about the difference between high school and club ball and why she’s so excited to put her OC Batbusters uniform on again.
The sweet-swinging player, a centerfielder from Moorpark (Calif.) High, has committed to the Univ. of Florida and is such a dangerous leadoff hitter that some teams have walked her to lead off games rather than risk the damage she can do with her bat! This year she’s been her usual terror at the plate, hitting .619 with 28 RBI, 19 doubles and eight home runs.
In 2013, Amanda won several national, state and local honors at the high school level including MaxPreps Underclass All-American, CalHiSports.com All-State and Ventura County Star Player of the Year after batting .626 with 17 home runs and compiling a spectacular 1.377 slugging percentage. In 96 at-bats, she only struck out once and her deadly hitting stroke has some saying it’s one of the best to ever come out of Southern California.
Last year, Amanda helped lead Team Mizuno-Stith to the PGF 18U National Championship game and in 2012 she was part of the 16U team that won the PGF national title.

This high school season has been very enjoyable. I love my teammates this season and it is showing on the field.
We won our first playoff game in many years yesterday!
Although I really want to win CIF and go far in the playoffs, I cannot wait to get back on the field in a Batbuster uniform with my teammates.
This summer is going to be so exciting and I’m so blessed to be able to spend all summer with my best friends! I have very high expectations for this summer and I can’t wait to see us accomplish them.
Two weeks after school ends, our team is off to New Jersey to play in a tournament, then straight to Colorado for the Independence Day tournament! It’s a very long trip but it’s a lot of fun and I am very excited.
We have been working so hard during high school season and I know we will be more than prepared for this summer. Showcases are always fun because there is no pressure for the girls that are committed. You can simply just play without stress which I’m very excited for.
High school adds a lot of pressure and distractions. Summer ball is my favorite part of the year.
PGF is the best week of the year; however, I want this summer to last for a while because I don’t want our amazing seniors to go off to school.
