StudentSportsSoftball.com: Tell us how you were first seen by Georgia Tech coaches and how the recruiting process went until they offered you…..
Christina Biggerstaff: Georgia Tech, plus many other colleges, watched me pitch in the Boulder Independence tournament on July 4th against the Birmingham Bolts. My Sudden Impact (Beltran) team won by a score of 3-2 and after the game, Georgia Tech, Binghamton and North Dakota University lined up and gave their information to Coach Carl Holder.
Coach Carl gave the colleges my information and also discussed the offers with me. I was most interested in Georgia Tech, but communicated with the other colleges as well. All immediately offered an unofficial visit but I selected Georgia Tech to visit in late July. On July 25, 2013, we went on our unofficial visit and met with Coach Hoerner and Coach Jury.
Coach Hoerner offered me a scholarship but I asked if I could make my decision by the end of the summer because I had set up other visits with colleges in Texas. Coach Hoerner agreed and I went on other visits to Texas colleges but felt like Georgia Tech was where I wanted to go. I called Georgia Tech and accepted the offer in late August and went on my official visit on September 20, 2013.
SSS.com: Why did you choose to go to Georgia Tech?
CB: I like the southern tradition and pride the school has. It has great school history and I can’t wait to be a part of it. The coaches are nice and supportive; you can tell they are in it for the girls and not themselves. The softball girls are amazing and I can’t wait to play with all of them. Plus, the pitching coach is Charlotte Morgan, a three-time NFCA All-American pitcher and four-year letter winner (2007-2010) at Alabama. She is the only player in the SEC to win All-American three times. Pretty much a legend!
SSS.com: Any concerns about the distance, going from Texas to Georgia for college?
CB: I did have concerns at first but I loved Atlanta, the Georgia Tech softball team and coaches so much that I decided that it was worth it.

SSS.com: How are you going to deal with being that far away?
CB: No one really knows, but I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. My faith will get me through.
SSS.com: How about signing day… what was that like and did you do anything to celebrate?
CB: I had a big celebration at Cy-Fair High School. All the softball players, coaches, family, friends, pitching coach Kendra Pate and my boyfriend Bryan Allison. It was an awesome day!
SSS.com: What do you think (or have others said) are your strengths as a softball player?
CB: The ability to stay calm on the mound. When I get myself into difficult situations, (and I do get myself out of difficult situations!), I usually do it by striking the batter out.
SSS.com: What do you plan to do after college?
CB: I plan to play pro softball along with playing someday on the Olympic team. If that fails, I will either be a teacher or an orthodontist.
SSS.com: Off the field questions now… what’s your favorite place in the world?
CB: Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
SSS.com: Who is someone famous you’d love to meet?
CB: Jennie Finch.
