JC Nationals Starting Today (5/14)

All us softball fans know that the Womens College World Series kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) with regionals across the country, but did you know that the Juco Nationals start today (the first game is starting just as I post this… how’s that for timing)?
Below is the list of the Tournament Seeds, but first here’s are some notes to know regarding this great level of competition which you can track here on the NJCAA Division I Softball National Championship website:
- The Keynote Speaker at the Opening Banquet this year is Crystl Bustos
- Of the 16 teams qualified for the 2014 NJCAA Div I Nationals only two have qualified for four straight nationals: Butler (Kan.) & Lakeland (Ill.)
- Only two teams in the nation have qualified six of the past eight years: Butler (Kan.) and Wallace (Ala.)
- The Canyons Softball Complex in St. George, Utah, site of this year’s Nationals, was recognized as the 2011 SSUSA (Senior Softball USA) Complex of the Year and has been recognized as the “Complex of the Year” by the National Softball Association eight times.
- Many Division I and Division II college coaches attend the NJCAA Div I Nationals each year to fill roster positions.
- Double Elimination Games begin on Wednesday and the Championship is Saturday.
